Gorgeous cottage in the heart of Ludlow. In a quiet terrace just off a main street, this charming house is a wonderful base for exploring Ludlow and the surrounding areas. Ideal for a couple or a family, there is a double bedroom and a bunk bed room. Fully equipped kitchen, pretty sitting room. Bathroom with modern shower and roll top bath. Access to lovely garden. Very close to the beautiful river Teme and 5 minutes walk from the market square. This is an early Victorian workman's cottage in a little terrace of houses off one of Ludlow's main streets. Roses climb over the front door. It is set out over three floors. On the ground floor there is a kitchen / diner, perfect for sociable cooking, with wooden worktops and a breakfast bar, as well as a lovely dining table with handmade table linen available. There is a fridge, oven, dishwasher and washing machine, kettle and toaster. On the first floor there is a comfortable and pretty sitting room with a television, stereo, and lots of games and DVDs. In the summer, you can see the climbing rose as you look out of the window. The bathroom has a heated towel rail, a modern shower and a roll top bath. On the top floor there is a double bedroom with a brass double bed. There is also a children's room with bunk beds. There is a travel cot and a stokke high chair available. There is a stair gate at the top of the stairs on this floor. The house is well equipped for children with toys, books and games. Children's tableware and cutlery are supplied. Please note that this is an old house, and comes with the quirkiness associated with its age. There are steep stairs. The shower is probably a little low for someone really tall, but it is as high up as the room will allow! There is a small courtyard garden in front of the house, but carry on down the path and there is a very pretty garden full of blossom, fruit and flowers, where you can sit on the bench or spread a rug under the crab apple tree. There is a small pond here full of frogs, and from the garden (and the house) you can hear the river Teme rushing past not far away. We try to be as environmentally responsible as possible; our bedlinen and toiletries are organic or environmentally friendly, we encourage recycling and minimising waste.
Beautiful home and even more beautiful garden and surroundings!! Lovely base to explore all that the wonderful Ludlow has to offer. I hadn’t been before but will definitely be back. Hannah was incredibly helpful by sharing recommendations for walks and restaurants. All in all a great weekend!
Great place to stay, lovely location and beautiful house. We stayed with our toddler and dog and it was very well equipped for all of us. Good communication from Hannah who checked in to make sure everything was ok for us. Garden was beautiful, wish we had the weather to enjoy it more. Lots of toys and book for our little one to play with. Thanks for a lovely stay.
Hannah's cottage is a delight, filled with quirky and authentic charm. It's in an ideal, quiet spot in the old town, close to the lovely river and some good pubs. And it's furnished and decorated in a warm, traditional way, with lots of genuine artefacts that make it a very refreshing space, especially compared to identikit, Ikea-inspired alternatives. Hannah's cottage is cosy and comfy and beautifully reflects Ludlow's old world charm. We made use of the recommendations and guidebooks provided, especially for walks, to make our visit truly unforgettable.
gorgeous place in a perfect location. only a 5 minute walk into Ludlow. Hannah was a fantastic host and very accommodating. I would stay again in a heartbeat
Ludlow is a rich and vibrant market town. It is full of history - with a fabulous 11th century castle overlooking the river, and streets which are a mixture of mediaeval stone, half-timbered Tudor, and stately Georgian buildings. The beautiful river Teme, home to swans, kingfishers and otters, carves a course between towering beech woods on one side and the town and cliff top castle on the other. The centre of town is a short walk up the hill - in the other direction you can cross the river and walk through the woods or along the river bank to the next bridge which brings you to castle, weir, paddling (on a good day) and a lovely riverside cafe.
The town has a longstanding reputation for food and drink, with many cafes and restaurants, as well as excellent local food shops, and a famous food and drink festival. It is a lovely place in which to spend time, browsing the markets and the local stylish gift shops and atmospheric antique shops.
The surrounding countryside is completely stunning and from Ludlow you can actually set out on foot and walk for miles, if that's your thing. There is a picturesque local racecourse. Atmospheric country pubs, famous natural landmarks, historic houses and castles are all within a short drive.
The house is very near the centre of town but set off from the main road in a little row of cottages which can just be seen from the cliffs the other side of the river. The other houses in the row are occupied by long standing residents who all have access through the shared archway off the main road, and have adjoining gardens in the allotment style garden complex. We would ask that visitors are friendly to and respectful of our neighbours, please.
There is a railway station in Ludlow which is approximately 15 minutes walk from the house (on the other side of the hill). If you come by train there are local bus and taxi services which enable you to get around to further afield places, but plenty can be done on foot. Excellent w
