Weltevreden cottage is a spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, fully equipped self-catering 4 sleeper unit with an air-conditioned open plan lounge and kitchen. The cottage has an outdoor veranda area where guests can enjoy their morning coffee and summer evening braai’s. The cottage is located on a small privately owned and managed game farm that borders the agricultural and tourism hub of Hluhluwe. The cottage is a short walking distance from the Ngweni Railway brewery and restaurant. Take a walk on the game-fenced farm and you will surely encounter plenty of small game like Impala, Nyala, Common reedbuck and Duiker that freely roam the property. A variety of bird species and the occasional sighting of smaller creatures such as porcupine will always bring delight. Guests are invited to enjoy the dam on the property which is the perfect setting for an afternoon picnic or sun downer. The farm also hosts the Hluhluwe park run and welcomes guests from all around the world to complete the non-profit 5km run / walk event.

This was a return visit for us, although in different accommodations this time. the accommodations were incredible, stylish and super clean. more importantly though Wessel is an amazing host who makes am effort to touch base with his guests and remain available if needed. the venue is incredible and we felt right at home. we explored the farm, sat around the fire, saw sunsets and sunrises and even got to the dam on the farm. Far enough to be in the bush yet close to a restaurant and the town down the road. Another very memorable weekend.

What a great day to spend some days, very nice cottage on the farm, game all around you. Wessel is a great host taking care and checking in regularly. We had a great time and Saturdays is a 5k parkrun on the ground, which is fun

ABOUT THE FARM AND THE AREA:
The Ngweni river runs along the banks of the property where it eventually flows underneath the farms other boundary, the Ngweni district road and a railway bridge. The railway line running parallel to the road passes through an area that is deeply steeped in tribal and pioneering history and one is regularly reminded of this each time the train passes by.
Being direct descendants of some of the first settlers of the area, the current owners intend to keep their heritage alive by preserving the property for future generations. There are also a number of museums and projects close by that pay tribute to the local people an
d the way that they have existed in the area and still manage to make a living by keeping their traditions and heritage alive.
