Painters Cottage is a classic Italian 'casolare' house near the lesser known Lago Maggiore, on the first floor of a large villa, which was an old monastery, in Besozzo Superiore. Fully independent with its own entrance & 1 flight of steps.Balcony overlooks fields and the village beyond. Cosy and welcoming space with an open fireplace in the sitting room. Windows throughout are recently renewed with double glazed windows + classic 'chiusi' (internal shutters) in keeping with the house. Painters Cottage is set in a small village above the town of Besozzo which lies at the bottom of the hill within walking distance. This house counts 1 large dbl bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, entrance/study and terrace overlooking the village.The main sitting room has an open fireplace, and a French window on to the terrace. The flooring in the house is a beautiful 18th century terracotta tile with vintage mosaic 3D tiles in the bedroom and sitting room. The bedroom has a really comfortable double bed, which can also be set as a twin bed. The bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom with a shower (no bathtub).Guests access the property from their own front via an internal courtyard. More on @casettadellepalme

het was een prachtig appartement, we voelde ons meteen thuis, typische gezellig italiaans appartement! we hebben ons echt heerlijk vermaakt op het appartement, alsof je thuis komt, de plek was echt genieten en lekker rustig! met een prachtig uitzicht als kers op de taart! helaas konden wij niet romantisch bij elkaar/tegen elkaar aan liggen, wij hebben bij voorbaat gevraagt of er een topper op de bedden lag, deze zou daar zijn dus we hebben onze maar thuis gelaten, toen wij wilde gaan slapen zagen wij dat het 2 losse bedden waren met wieltjes eronder, deze schoven bij de minste beweging uit elkaar, wij hebben dus 10 dagen uit elkaar moeten slapen op deze mooie romantische plek, dit vonden wij heel jammer natuurlijk, ik hoop dat dat zal veranderen voor de volgende personen die komen verblijven..... verder heerlijk genoten!

Bellissimo appartamento in stile antico arredato con gusto da Liz e Ros, spazioso e fresco nei mesi estivi quando fuori fa molto caldo. Completo di tutto quello che può servire per soggiorni di corta e lunga durata, le host sempre disponibili al bisogno. Ottima posizione per raggiungere facilmente il lago Maggiore, il lago di Varese e i dintorni.

POINTS OF INTEREST IN THE AREA MAKE THE PLACE.
The house of Besozzo is set within a short distance from the lakes of Lombardy.
Lago di Varese is a calm and picturesque lake – but it is NOT FOR SWIMMING, just an open space of beauty and reflections on the still waters. There is a cute island on the lake, called Isolino Virginia with a restaurant on it. It is a must for an evening trip with the local ferry, which is driven by ones of the cooks, and which comes to pick you up and leaves from Barasso, when you book a table. Take mosquito spray just in case. The island is a stunning World Heritage Site, and the boat trip is very unique experience.
There are also two nice restaurants on the waterfront on Lago di Varese: Da Mariuccia, La Vecchia Riva, and Il Volo a Vela (this is a small airport for gliders which come and go over the lake to catch the thermal winds). All have great outdoor terraces and pergolas under which to eat with no rush. Lago Maggiore is a 15 minutes drive away along the lake and offers small villages to enjoy on foot, markets, and the three Borromeo Islands: Isola Madre, Isola Bella and Isola dei Pescatori - the latter is a perfect landing spot for a long lunch, after visiting the palaces and the world famous gardens of the other 2 islands! These 3 "floating museums" of Lombardy have attracted people from all over the world, as well as HRH Prince Charles and Diana, when they were on their honeymoon.
There are some excellent golf courses in the area too, with exceptional views of the lakes and the mountains, and all the information can be sent to you in advance of you arrival.

Getting around is best by car and there are lots of options to rent from the leading companies in Linate or Malpensa airports, if this is where you arrive. Alternatively there are car rentals also from the closest big city: Varese, should you arrive in the area by train from Milan or Switzerland.
