Allana's place is very peaceful. I thought other guests were occupying the premises but I was alone, which make it even more private and relaxing. When I went there, the apartment that I paid for, I realize that it lacked a few things like a work station and a table to eat around. The apartment at the front though had what I wanted and Allana with her kindness allowed me to move there without charging extra. Even though she is not in the country, she tries to make sure I am comfortable through her friendly and good-natured assistant, Anita. All in all, I spent almost three weeks there and wouldn't have a problem staying there again.
Comfortable for a short stay in the Georgetown, Guyana 🇬🇾 area! However, only 1 bedroom had air conditioning and the bathroom does NOT look renovated as pictured in the listing. Nice and comfortable living room/dinning room/ kitchen with a refrigerator and small stove.
I've read many reviews from both Hosts and Guest who were either disappointed or dissatisfied with the service they would have received or unpleasant events that would have occured during their stay on either sides. For the most part a guest who would have had an unpleasant experience would begin their review by saying 'Do not book nor stay at this airbnb ' which serves as a warning and speaks directly to the general public and has the potential to harm the host in some way or the other. It's not my wish for that to be portrayed in my review, only my experience. I booked this airbnb for 3 guests from (07/10/21) to (07/23/21) it wasn't until approximately three weeks prior my to check-in date I realized that I'd made a mistake, instead of booking July 11th - 22nd, I booked July 10th - July 23rd. I realized that I won't have been in Guyana until the 11th and on the 23rd I would have long been back in the US. I quickly brought this to the host attention via whatsapp and was advised to go on the airbnb app and make the necessary changes but I doing so I would see a escalated difference in price but I should not worry as she'll inform airbnb and give me a reduction. I did as she advised. A few day prior to my departure for GuyanaI visited the site and didn't notice a reflection of the change of dates , I contacted the host again and inquired, only this time she had some choiced words for me ' If needed cheaper , I should book somewhere ' I explained to her that wasn't my wish and all I wanted to know was that I'm only being charged for the days that I'll be in the apartment as no one pays for an hotel room for multiple days if their not staying there. At the end I apologize to her for inquiring and I laid it to rest. Myself, wife and daughter arrived in guyana at the airbnb on July 11th in the afternoon, we retrieved the keys entered the apartment, as soon as we did we noticed the apartment was untidy, there was alot of thick dust on the counter and the sink , rust was practically all over it. It totally seemed like no one was in there for a long time. So on that note we exited and began trying our keys on other doors as it's a multiplex apartment building. No other door would open so I was now convinced that was our apartment. I went out to the store, purchased cleaning products and cleaned the entire apartment. In doin so I checked the fridge and found only the freezer compartment to be working, the main compartmentof the fridge was hot, I called the host immediately and let her know the apartment was dirty when we came in and that we've cleaned it and the fridge has a problem. She said, she had a professional clean the apartment and when the person done she was on the phone with the cleaner on a video call for 45 mins inspecting the place, I said ma'am I'm sorry but it couldn'tbe this apartment you're talking abt. She said however tomorrow being the July 12th she'll send the caretaker over to check the fridge. The following day the caretaker came and confirmed that my complaint was accurate and promised to get someone over to repair it or she'll take it back to the store as she'd only purchased it two month prior. Through the duration of our stay , 11 days in total no one was brought to repair the fridge, three days later I saw the caretaker and spoked to her again regarding the fridge, she said she was sorry and promised someone will come . Apart from that, the sink in the bathroom and the toilet were our worst issues. The sink when I use leaked from the base, so the mat and floor were constantly wet, we took towels and placed them around the base to help with the situation. For the entirety of our stay when we used the toilet for number 2, we were forced to flush it day and night with a bucket, only urine went down without any trouble, I repeatedly reported this to the caretaker and host and was told by the host that I needed to hold the lever on the tank continuously when flushing otherwiseit won't flush, that was done every time with the same result. The water from the tank continuously runs out into the bowl, it never stops which results in a decrease in pressure to flush the toilet so it made no difference how long the lever was being held down . After a few complaints the host promised to send a contractor, the day I was told they were coming, I stayed home all day no one came, I informed the host of this, she told me the other day they'll come, as promised I saw the contractor in the yard and I asked him if he's coming to do the repair, he said yes but after he's done working in another apartment.. I waited again and they never came. Then the host accused me of not giving the contractor access . On the July 15th without requesting my permission the host sent Two persons to the apartment, 1 male and female who introduced themselves as Interior designers, they said they were sent by the host and they needed access to the apartment. I was appalled by this move, I wasn't informed, no call, no message on the airbnb, nor whatsapp.. just some people showed up at the door with the caretaker who left as long they were granted access. They entered and were pulling the curtains and all manner of things, I soon realized the female had the host on a video call whiles receiving
