自我介绍

My Airbnb motto is: "Be not inhospitable to strangers, lest they be angels in disguise" Yeats, courtesy of George Whitman. I grew up in Romania, then lived in Paris, Santa Cruz and Oakland until I chose Portland as my home back in 2002 when it wasn't nearly as cool as it is nowadays. My inspiration for hosting people comes from a few different sources. One is that when I grew up in Romania under a dictatorship, we were supposed to report to the police any guests we had in our home that were from outside the country. My parents hosted people we met while traveling anyway and it felt cool, subversive and somewhat dangerous. The other inspiration is that while I lived and went to school in Paris in my 20s I met some of the most influential people in my life while hanging out at the famous bookstore Shakespeare & Co. George Whitman, had a decades long tradition of hosting artists, writers and other weary travelers in exchange for work in the bookstore and the story of their lives. I see Portland having a little bit of the Paris spirit that I enjoyed in my 20s. I have a background in quantum physics but I spent the last 13 years running a software and ecommerce business. We tried to feature local artists in the house in case you might feel inspired to buy some of it while you are in Portland. We have become coffee and beer snobs in the last decade as our neighborhood has been filling up with wonderful small coffee roasters and breweries.
