Secluded from the touristic part of Kausani, our cabin is in the middle of the sprawling tea estate. With a private road that leads straight to the tea gardens, the cabin sits a little down the ridge and offers one of the best views of the Himalayas in the village. With no houses in its vicinity apart from the caretaker's, the cabin gives you a much-needed dose of pristine nature. The cabin is over 30 years old with earthen walls. It has a porch, two living areas, a bedroom, a kitchen, and a bathroom. It gets flooded with gorgeous light at sunrise that stays for most of the day. - The living room has seating and study space and is suitable for short and long-term stays for people working remotely. - There’s also a Wi-Fi connection so the cabin is WFH-ready. - Equipped with a gas stove, water purifier, geyser, utensils, and cutlery, the kitchenette is well-suited for quick as well as elaborate meals. - Downstairs we have a living room, kitchen, and bathroom. - The living area upstairs has a wooden floor and plush floor seating. We recommend you use the fireplace below to avoid any fire hazards. The caretaker can arrange wooden coals in the evening and keep the coals in the fireplace to warm up the house for the night - Since the cabin is quite old, the wooden flooring may be a bit noisy. - The bedroom is attached to the living area(upstairs) and is separated by a privacy screen with curtains only (no door). - Beds: 2 double beds in the bedroom upstairs Other things to note: - We have a part-time caretaker who can clean every alternate day. He works on the plantation so may not be available all the time. - The closest shop is 15 minutes walk away, so we request you get the essential food and bathroom supplies on your way to the cabin for a comfortable stay. We've stocked the house with soap, toothpaste, toilet paper, and other essentials, but it's hard to keep inventory as we don't live there. - If you don't wish to cook, the caretaker can deliver food from the restaurants nearby (you can tip him if you like). Or you can go to the nearest restaurant to grab a bite. - If you’d like home-cooked food, the caretaker can cook two meals at the charge of ₹300 per day. Cooking time: Morning 7-8 am, Evening 7-8 pm - There's inverter power backup, but power cuts are rare on non-snow days. - Watch out for the langurs and monkeys. They come in huge groups and are big-time thieves. If a cat drops by, please feed him. - Some mobile services may be patchy. However, Airtel and Jio work alright. House rules: - Strictly no smoking in the house or lighting up the fireplaces yourself. - Pets are not allowed. - Please do not wear slippers upstairs. - The paintings are originals so please avoid touching or moving them. - Please check out on time so the other guests can check in before dusk. - Some of the cupboards, rooms, or boxes, are padlocked. They contain our supplies so please refrain from unlocking them. - Please avoid littering around the house or plantation. Please treat our home like it's yours. It's located in truly a beautiful setting and is one of the best places to experience nature at its finest in Kausani. Everything you see in the picture is what you get.
