NM · 整套客用套房 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · Wheel of Light Guest House on the Rio Grande
The Wheel of Light was built by hand in the vision of bringing people into communion with nature. This rural eco-retreat is nestled into the Rio Grande river canyon, just one mile from Orillo Verde National Monument replete with supreme hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. Off the beaten path but still easily accessed from Taos or Santa Fe, you'll be mystified by this one-of-a-kind sculptural home crafted out of pumice-crete, reclaimed timber, and locally-sourced red clay. *Please read our entire listing prior to making a reservation* The guesthouse is attached to the caretaker's residence, though it has two private entrances in the front courtyard as well as French doors that open up to the backyard and garden space. There is plenty of privacy as well as room to roam. The charm of Northern New Mexico is captured by the heated adobe floors, streams of natural light, and enchanting 360-degree views. The beautifully spacious chef's kitchen is equipped with sprawling copper countertops, a full-sized refrigerator, gas range and oven, bar seating, large pantry, and captivating views of the adjacent arroyo brimming with trees and wildlife. It is fully stocked with utensils, cutlery, and cookware so you can prepare meals if you choose to eat on the premises. An electric tea kettle and drip coffee machine with filters are also provided. The great room features a classic kiva fireplace as well as a cast iron wood stove to create an inviting place to get cozy or mingle with friends. With parlor seating and a queen-sized futon, you can curl up with a book from the library wall or use the space as an additional sleeping area. There are two solarium-style bump-outs that allow you to be immersed in nature with the comfort of radiant in-floor heat and abundant throw pillows. The full bathroom has a tub/shower combo as well as artistic touches of reclaimed wood and decorative tile. Towels, washcloths, and septic-friendly biodegradable toilet paper are provided. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed with a mattress that most would describe as 'medium-firm'. You can enjoy views of the garden and fruit trees from the sheepskin-clad bay window bench. There are two large closet spaces with hand-crafted artisanal doors with ample room for storage. There is also a private washer and dryer for your personal use — watershed-safe detergent is provided. From both the kitchen and great room, you can access the back of the property where there is an outdoor dining area, garden space, and an abundance of stonefruit trees for lounging in the shade. Ample parking can be found at the front of the property. There is also a large front yard with native plantings, lush grass, and a picnic table tucked beneath a legacy cottonwood. There is a reliable internet connection. The wifi speed is 100mbps adequate for zoom and movies. Our home is water-independent with a well and fueled by a propane tank. As such, we are always conscious of resource expenditure and ask that our guests participate in the spirit of conservation. Our water is clean, delicious, and free-flowing albeit a precious commodity in this arid climate.
This is the place for quiet. We loved playing with Marley, the dog, and the birds lured by the feeders just outside the kitchen windows. With all the beauty of the Rio Grande Gorge area, we didn't bother getting to Taos or Santa Fe this trip. Enjoyed doing our own cooking and getting pizza at the Blue Heron Brewing Co.
Incredibly beautiful location. Be sure to walk down to the river. Gorgeous home. Can’t wait to get back. Will definitely be back with our family.
Stunning and relaxing space. Even more beautiful than the photos! Tons of light and picturesque location and the bottom of the gorge. One of the best Airbnbs I have seen. Will definitely be back!
Rural with dirt roads.
