Our second stay and it was again a great choice. The location on the golf course is a perfect setting. And the condition of the unit shows pride of ownership. Anza Borrego State Park and Borrego Springs are great places to visit. Lots of activities and so many options for hikes and trips in the park. John and Maria are great and thoughtful hosts.
We rented the place for relatives from Europe since we had a family reunion and our house is to small to accomodate so many people. The place was nice and clean and had everthing needed for a nice stay.
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is famous for its extraordinary spring wildflowers, majestic views, and natural wonders. Visitors can discover hidden gems, from slot canyons and cactus-studded hills, peninsular ranges, natural palm oases, wilderness areas, and almost alien-looking landscapes.
Fun fact: Anza-Borrego Desert State Park actually spans over three counties: San Diego County, Riverside County, and Imperial County. It’s the largest state park in the lower 48 states, with more than 1,000 square miles and over 650,000 acres.
There are so many things to do in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and plenty to see. Here are the top reasons why it’s worth the trip to this magical California desert park.
Borrego Springs Sculpture Dragon
Visitors will encounter more than a dozen large free-standing metal sculptures of prehistoric animals such as mammoths, giant birds and saber-toothed cats at the Galleta Meadows Estate. The heavy-duty sculptures, created by Ricardo Breceda, weigh about 800 to 1,000 pounds each and were commissioned by the late millionaire Dennis Avery. Visitors are allowed to “trespass” to admire the open desert art museum.
