Baley Retreat is a 2-bedroom cottage, 2 miles southwest of the picturesque, coastal, fishing town of Portsoy, with stunning 360-degree views across Aberdeenshire countryside. The house is in a rural farm setting, only a few miles from the beautiful Moray Firth Coastline, with gorgeous coastal walks and beautiful sandy beaches. Portsoy is renowned for its acclaimed annual Scottish Traditional Boat Festival at the end of June. It's a great opportunity not to be missed! Adjacent to Baley Farmhouse, this fully self-contained property has one double bedroom and one twin bedded room. There is an extra bed situated in the loft space between bedrooms one and two at the top of the stairs, please see photos. On the ground floor, there is a large bathroom with a shower and bath tub. Towels are provided. There is a cosy lounge with tv, and a separate dining area. The well-equipped kitchen has a washing machine, full cooking facilities, microwave, toaster and fridge freezer. Guests have access to the garden which is shared with ourselves and our two pups which includes the use of garden chairs, where you can enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and evening sunsets. Baley retreat is well equipped with everything we think you might need during your stay, however, we are open to suggestions if you think we've missed something. There is 4G WiFi connectivity, ideal for business travellers. Please note that due to the traditional design of the building, the upstairs has sloping ceilings on both sides, so can be a little low for persons of height. Regarding pets, we have two furry friends at the farmhouse, who are rescues from Sicily, so you are more than welcome to bring along your furry friends too!! However, please let us know if you intend to bring any pets which must be included on the booking. There are a couple of walks around fields close to the property, which are suitable for exercising your pup, as well as more further afield. We would ask you to not leave your pet in the property alone. Portsoy Scottish Traditional Boat Festival, at the end of June, engages the local region and its visitors, bringing together boats, music, crafts, food, and drink, to celebrate the region’s rich cultural heritage. Portsoy, with its quaint 17th century Harbour, also offers a small beach, shops, a pub, coffee shops, fish and chip shop and Chinese takeaway. Also, there is the well-known Portsoy ice-cream shop, which we personally recommend; all within 5 minutes' drive from Baley Retreat. It is worth noting that in the later part of the year, between September and March, you may be lucky enough to see the northern lights, weather conditions permitting. The many attractions of the Moray Firth and Buchan Coastlines include picturesque fishing villages, gorgeous coastal walks along cliffside paths, and sandy beaches nearby, such as Sandend, Banff Link/Inverboyndie and Sunnyside. Aberdeen is just one hours drive away and Inverness is one hour and thirty minutes away.
