Our group of three families enjoyed the stay. Location is good but the house itself has seen better days. Overall not bad for quick Sonoma getaway for a larger group.

This house was very unclean. Something was wrong with the water in the guest house and it smelled terrible when we ran the water. A lot of towels and blankets were stained. Surfaces were dusty. Floors were dirty. Counters were dirty. Kitchen utensils not cleaned. It was a cool space but way overpriced for feeling like we were staying in a pretty unclean environment. We also couldn’t figure out the heating situation, the gas fireplaces didn’t work at all, and the hot tub had algae growing on the bottom. We contacted avantstay when we arrived and they were helpful and responsive (they sent out a cleaning crew asap) but I cannot recommend this listing. We paid a lot to have a fun weekend in wine country with our families and we don’t feel that the accommodations we received justified the price.

The property itself is lovely, though it seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned up in a while. Great location and proximity to wineries. The house smelled like sewage when we first entered. We tried our best to air out the place but it lingered. I think the house is on a well. The shower water smelled metallic. Like blood. It was so hard and metallic no one wanted to bathe in it after the first night. We had some issues with some stuff being on timers. We were here during a freeze warning. We wanted the heater set to 57 at night and each night we woke up to the heater turned up to 70. Seems like it’s on a timer we couldn’t figure out. Led to everyone sleeping uncomfortably. Hot tub also seems to be on a timer. Tried several times to turn it off and it always ended up back on. We found remnants of the previous bachelorette party. Which led us to question the cleanliness. Things I wouldn’t expect to have to deal with for a $670 cleaning fee. And almost $3000 for two nights.

The home and its 7 acre location was amazing. Hot tub and pool were well received by my grandkids. However, there were a number of issues that impacted the quality of our time. They were: 1) sewer smell in our master bathroom, 2) Rotten egg/sulfur smell in the casitas shower 3) Lack of filtered water in the casitas (home is on a well requiring filtered drinkable water), 4) Lack of heat in casitas (no written instructions on how to run the heater) 5) Dishwasher in main house that was very difficult to run. As these items were reported to the management company, they came onsite to investigate. They got rid of sewer smell by pouring chemicals down our toilet. The rotten egg smell issue was not fixed. It was probably due to the old hot water heater in casitas. The maintenance staff who came on site acknowleged the problem of getting the property owners to spend money on repairs, which was evident from our encounter. If the property owners (an investment group) would spend some money to fix everything (ie, clean up the septic system, install new hot water heater, fix the water filtraton, install new dishwasher and make sure it is properly attached to the underside of the counter, leave detailed printed instructions on how things operate), this place would be totally awesome. I spent at least an hour a day for each of the seven days we were there dealing with the management company on our problems. They did refund us 20% of our rental cost, which was appreciated given that I spent over $8,000 for this week long stay with my kids and grandkids. But a renter should not have to spend this amount of time and have to deal with substandard conditions, especially having paid $8,000 for this week stay.

Lovely home where we could be together, yet have our own space. Comfy beds. Staff from AvantStay are excellent!
