A light & airy space, in tranquil nature-rich countryside with amazing views, enjoying two ensuite bedrooms (one with king size bed, the other with superking size/two singles), lounge/dining area, well-equipped, open-plan kitchen, covered terrace & garden, allocated parking & high-speed internet with wifi. Shared space includes a large saltwater pool & nature trails on the 4-acre estate with many places to sit quietly & enjoy the views. Supermakets/all amenities are just a 10-minute drive away. The master bedroom, with king size double bed has two pairs of french doors onto the private terrace with views towards the traditional whitewashed town of Alhaurin el Grande set against the Sierra Mijas mountains. The second double bedroom is at the back of the apartment built into the hillside with a window well, making it ideal for cool summer and warm winter nights . It has the added flexibility of a super king size or two single beds. There is a large lounge / dining area with patio doors onto the covered terrace. There is an open plan flow to the kitchen and a further outdoor kitchen / barbeque area on the covered terrace. The same contemporary stone effect tiles run throughout the apartment and onto the terrace, giving a sense of harmony. The walls are freshly decorated in clean white. The apartment and terrace are all on one level. Allocated secure parking is adjacent to the apartment. The nearly 4 acres of the property include 2 acres of hillside nature trails as well as a developing permaculture food forest with many citrus, nut, avocado, mango and fig trees. There are many places to sit quietly, enjoy the views and soak in the beauty of the nature-rich environment. Loved Andrew’s place. It’s quite secluded and quiet, which is exactly what we were looking for. Andrew is a lovely and friendly host who’s always willing to help and give advice (for example on hikes in the area). We loved our time there even though the weather was atypically bad - though the rain made his giant garden even more paradise-like.
Andrew provides a nice slice of heaven. Everything was immaculate, relatively spacious, and certainly met our needs. Andrew was quite accommodating no matter what time of day we reached out to him. He invited us to walk his lands, enjoy the views, helped us with the barbecue so that we could enjoy our own steaks, gave us access to the pool, and even shared locally raised eggs any morning. This place is worth a visit and it was not too far from any place really. We enjoyed El Torcal (twice), Granada and its sites, Malaga, Mijas Pueblo, a fortified town whose name escapes me, and Barraco Blanco. We ate well, found the weather to be a nice mix of sun and wind - so not usually too hot, with nary a rain drop in the forecast. We heartily recommend Andrew's AirBNB to you and yours! Tom
The place and the people inspire a lot of peace which was what we were looking for. The garden is a paradise only 25 min away from Malaga. A very cleverly designed and very comfortable apartment to stay in on Andrew, Hazel and Grace's plot of land near Coín. The gardens are beautiful and there is plenty of space to walk and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside while still being close enough to shops and amenities if you need them. It's well located for walks in the nearby Mijas mountains, and just a 30 minute drive from Sierra de las Nieves, where there are also many interesting walks to do. Andrew and his family are on site and made us feel very welcome indeed, showing us around, giving us recommendations about local places to go to and see, not to mention providing us with oranges and lemons from their trees and eggs from their hens. The property is in a sought-after country hillside location with amazing views between the traditional Spanish towns of Alhaurin el Grande and Coin, both towns with all amenities being just a 10 minute (5km) drive away.
The Andalucian Rescue Centre for Horses is a short walk away and is open to visitors on Sunday mornings.
"Alhaurin", a name given by the Moors, means "God´s garden", the area being fertile with a pleasant winter climate. There is abundant fresh fruit & vegetables grown and sold locally. There is a mix of traditional Spanish people & culture and a large, established, international community.
We are 30 minutes from the Costa del Sol, Marbella & Fuengirola.
We are a 45 minute drive (46km) from the world-renown El Caminito del Rey with its spectacular rope walkways.
We are just 30 minutes from Malaga airport, and accessible by good tarmac roads with just the final 100 metres being a steep concrete lane.
A car is recommended for getting around including for food shopping.
There is a regular and economical bus service from Alhaurin el Grande to Malaga.
