The expansiveness of this big country with the combination of hills, trees, water and birdlife make this an incredibly special area. Nearby Kurow boasts a lovely little museum, great cafes and a little grocery store to pick up any supplies you may need.
You may also like to experience country hospitality in either of the local Pubs in Kurow or Duntroon.
Not only is it a great place for you to stop, smell the flowers and  listen to the birdsong, it’s one  where you can relax with a good book and a glass of good quality wine - grown, pressed and bottled by our neighboring Kurow Village Vineyards.
For the more adventurous, the Alps to the Ocean Cycle Trail is at your doorstep, as is the Waitaki River for those who have come to angle, cast a fly or spin during the salmon and trout seasons.  Higher up, the mountain scapes entice the avid climber and the day tramper to pack a lunch and explore.
Steeped in its deep Scottish Gaelic history, neighbouring Duntroon, proudly showcases its working Blacksmith shop; ancient archeological sites, elephant rocks and limestone-cliff formations.
Oamaru victoriously welcomes you to join their Victorian precinct. Step back in time and see the artisans practice their traditional skills all whilst dressed in the costume of the day.  The annual Victorian Heritage celebrations held in early November is an experience not to be missed where locals and visitors enjoy a range of events spread over a one week period, ranging from historic walks, oratories of written works of literature, dances, penny farthing races and a magnificent street parades in full period costumes. Oamaru is also the home of Steampunk with the Steampunk HQ showcasing a Victorian quirky sci-fi experience.
A 2-3 day itinerary could take you visiting Lakes Aviemore, Benmore and Waitaki to picnic, a coastal visit to watch or partake in the surfing at Kakanui and a visit to Moeraki, here you can wander the beach and see the the iconic boulders, the blue penguins and enjoy the freshly caught seafood for lunch on the beach.
Omarama is a 50min drive inland, here you can spend and evening at the Hot tubs stargazing, another unique experience to add to your stay.

We are situated on the main Kurow Duntroon Road on SH83 which runs between Oamaru and Omarama. Day trips to Lakes Aviemore, Benmore and Waitaki to picnic, fish or walk are recommended.
