Private location, managed to catch the northern lights right outside our front porch! Check in instructions were clear and easy to follow. Check out was smooth and seamless too. Kitchen was abit dirty with appliances heavily used, the toilet also needs more maintenance. But room was clean and comfortable. Interesting loft set up! Arne was helpful and pleasant throughout.

We were initially confused (and not terribly happy) on arriving at Arne’s place - which is actually a converted school. If you are looking for a cosy retreat this is probably not it. The downstairs is set up as a community hall, and the ‘kitchen’ is a bar with a nod to self-catering, e.g. the microwave is placed impracticably high on the fridge-freezer to be of use for shorter people. Bedrooms and sofa/TV are accessed via a vertical ladder, too steep and high to carry luggage up, and not suitable for the nervous or unfit. The WC is downstairs so access during the night is interesting. The chiller cabinet and AC units are noisy and we chose to switch them off. However, the space is spotless and obviously well cared for. Great shower too! If you adjust your expectations, it's a practical stop on a touring holiday, and inexpensive. Finally, the location was great for walks (e.g. Blafjellet) and shops/eateries (Borkenes and Harstad). Arne was very responsive to practical queries.
