This is a Beautifully decorated cottage surrounded by tall trees. The cottage is exactly as described and host MK is very professional and responsive. I had a lot of stress before coming to the cottage for a much needed getaway with my family over Thanksgiving. MK was patient, responsive and very professional in addressing all my questions and needs. He arranged extra fire logs for the indoor fireplace which was a huge hit with the kids, and timely provided extra blankets. The tall trees around the deck was my favorite place. The coffee bar was my husband’s favorite. Really appreciate the complementary wine, beer, and soda in the fridge! It made our stay more bubbly and festive. A secluded and beautiful hiking trail is walking distance from the cottage, which is more pretty than Muir Woods in our opinion. Our dog loved the daily hike on the tail.

A Cozy House in the Woods Setup like it is in the City We rented this property to get out of the city for the weekend and hike in the woods and generally decompress. The house itself is nice enough. It has a cozy kitchen / living room area next to a lovely solarium. A smaller bedroom / office combo, and then a spacious (though sparse) upstairs bedroom. Unfortunately, it's hard to enjoy when things aren't working. I grew up in the country, so I'm used to services being unavailable. But usually, you have backups for those services. If your internet may go out, you have a landline. Having no way to contact emergency services is dangerous. If the water heater might die, you leave instructions about how to restart it. The hosts don't seem to believe in those kinds of accommodations. We discovered that the internet was not working when we arrived, and so it took hours of waiting for phones with barely any service to exchange info over the Airbnb App. At one point we needed to hike away from the house to make a call to the hosts. In addition to the connectivity problems, we also had trouble getting hot water several times. In order to get a bath hot enough we needed to use the kettle from the kitchen. It also seems like the heat is only on during certain hours of the day: fine if you sleep in, but if you're an early riser expect the house to be at 50 or below without a way to heat it up. Not a welcome surprise in the woods in winter. When we contacted the host about the things that weren't working they explained, as the listing says, that it's a rural property and sometimes things do not work. At least the kitchen was great! It's well stocked with pots and pans and there are plenty of plates and bowls. We had no problem cooking the food we brought and the reasonably diverse set of spices were welcome. We enjoyed our weekend - but I wouldn't rely on any particular feature of the property (including being able to contact the outside world) being available for your trip. In the rules you only see after booking the house, they say "No refund will be made due to power outages or malfunctions with TV’s, internet service, heater, water heater, or other equipment or appliances." We experienced problems with all of those things in our stay! Expect that you will too. I want to emphasize again that, if we had had an emergency, we would have had no way to contact 911. P.s. Not a flaw in the property per-se, but cleaning fees came out to 1/3 of our bill. This means that the property is about 50% more expensive than it seems. Also, when paying that much for cleaning, it felt like a bit much for the hosts' first message to say: "- CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF. / - Place all dirty dishes in the dishwasher and start the cycle. Dishwasher tablets can be found under the kitchen sink"

Great location with a lovely back porch under the trees. It was perfect for a small group of friends and my little dog. MK was very responsive and left treats (wine, coffee, snacks) which made the experience very inviting. Recommended!
