James’ house was wonderful. The garden is beautifully planted and creates a lot of privacy. We had daily visits from wildlife We enjoyed being at the house so much that we didn’t do all of the sightseeing we wanted to. We’re already discussing our next chance to return. The location is great. It’s an easy walk into Fairhaven and to see the water. It’s quiet at night (and during the day). Every aspect of the house is well thought out and designed. We especially appreciated that there was space in the cabinets for our food and our own dishes. There was also space to put up a second desk for work and extra storage space in the ping pong building. The internet is solid for remote work. Jim is the consummate host. We enjoyed getting to know him and Rita. They were helpful, generous, kind, and laid back. We really appreciated the chance to stay at their delightful house. Other reviewers have said it, and it’s true: if you can book this airbnb you will be lucky!

Jim is a great host and the pride of ownership is apparent. Jim and his wife live in the house across the alleyway and Jim is very attentive to keep the property in good condition. Comfortable space, great yard, and the location in the Fairhaven neighborhood is perfect.

Everything we imagined and more from the listing. When we arrived we were in awe of the beautiful property, which at the time was full of plum trees ready for harvest and 5 deer waiting for those plums to drop. The cottage is in a picturesque, wooded setting that will feel so quiet and peaceful, and yet it is just a short walk from the center of Fairhaven. And, that walk! We walked or biked into town regularly along the inter urban trail. A lot of days we never moved our car. There are also easy trails in the woods behind the house or more rigorous trails just a short bike ride away in the state park. The location is epic and serene. The craftsman home built by the delightful owner, Jim, will just warm your heart as soon as you see it. We spent 6 delightful weeks nestled in there, making meals drinking coffee on the front steps watching the deer, working and reading. The bed is cozy, the kitchen has everything you need, and we were even able to host a dinner party for our family and play some competitive ping pong in the studio. Lots of light streams in, the house is cool on warmer days, and easily stays warm as the days get colder. Hosts Jim and Rita live across the alley. They are incredibly warm and the most gracious, kind considerate hosts you could hope for. We loved getting to know them. The only downside to our stay was having to leave.
