We had a lovely stay in Serenio, the combination of nearby nature and easy access to Edinburgh was ideal. The hut is very well equipped, including full size undercounter fridge with ice box, dishwasher, comfortable beds, a very good selection of pans/crockery/cutlery and a detailed folder of local information. We enjoyed sitting among the secluded trees outside the hut and Resy allowed us to bring and use a firebowl on the patio so we had several evening fires outside enjoying the sound of hooting owls. The reservoir and hills are only 10 minutes walk away, so the area is excellent for walking or sitting an enjoying the view, we could also see that swimming and paddleboarding/canoeing are possible in the reservoir. The bus in to Edinburgh is very convenient, around 15 minute walk or you can drive into Barlerno and use the free car park. We would recommend a torch if you will be walking back from the bus/village in the evening as there are no pavements for some sections of the road.

Would highly recommend a stay at Resy’s!! From the moment I arrived and was greeted by Betsy the pig it was a 10/10 stay!! Resy was helpful and friendly without being intrusive. She made us feel so at home and her grounds are absolutely beautiful. It was so peaceful and quiet. I had quite a few go’s on the zip line too which I would recommend to anyone looking for a bit of fun. A superbly stocked and functional kitchen and overall a lovely well kept space that really felt like home!

My girlfriend and I have just spent 4 nights at the Hideaway to celebrate a Birthday. We had a wonderful time and couldn’t fault anything! We spent a couple of days walking in Pentland hills and a the rest exploring Edinburgh. Easy commute into Edinburgh with a local bus a short walk away and used uber a couple of times. Balerno town is lovely as well. The Hideaway was spotless, comfortable and was well stocked with everything you need. Resy was a fantastic host, provided us with lots of local tips, very friendly and welcoming. Couldn’t recommend the Hideaway strongly enough, we will 100% be back for another stay.
