Hosts who are proud of the hospitality on offer, who can offer travel advice and local walking / 4WD history tours. "Oldfields" is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers Under tile heating is a feature of the bathroom. Breakfast (Continental, pancakes, waffles - savoury or sweet, eggs on toast), with plunger coffee or tea available on request. Coffee and tea making facilities in unit. Microwave in unit. Refrigerator in unit. Netflix available in private sitting room. BBQ and Outdoor Wood fired Pizza Oven cooking facilities are available on request.

Oldfields is a great place. John and Sue are the greatest hosts. We have stayed three times and still the best . Geraldine is a great town with everything you need and the friendliest people. Not too big not too small. We love it here.
Delightful place only a few minutes walk through Kennedy park to Geraldine. Lovely village like feel with lots of live music as well as plenty of wool shops. The breakfast every morning was fantastic and different every day. Plenty of friendly advice as to what to see and do locally.

Geraldine is often referred to as an English Village. Both short river walks and bush walks are within easy reach. Being on a main tourist route, has led to the development of an array of cafes, burger outlets and restaurants. Indian, Chinese, English, Turkish and 'good old Kiwi' cuisine are catered for.
On a map, Geraldine is near the centre of the South Island - 100km from Lake Tekapo, 35 km from Timaru. Marvellous scenery is close at hand in the Upper Rangitata Valley.
Short walks are close at hand. Ideal for cyclists. If you want to venture into pristine country, we will drive you there, supply lunch around the camp fire, and give as much commentary as you wish.

Hi, I'm John. I have worked in Geraldine for 26 years as a health professional. In recent years, I have written two books. I enjoy mountaineering, tramping and fishing in New Zealand and abroad. I also enjoy writing and reading poetry. Travel has been a mixture of voluntary aid project work in the third world and family adventures elsewhere in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Looking forward to sharing your interests and travel pursuits.
