A brief description about myself: I’m a freelance musician: composer, arranger, conductor, bassist, author, radio personality, and the creator of the Orchestre Surreal where I use the pseudonym Elvis Schoenberg, it’s a 30 piece orchestra where I mash classic rock songs with iconic classical, jazz, and film music. the group performs regularly throughout southern California. I’ve been the recipient of several awards including: Best Orchestral Arranger: LA Music Awards Best Music Direction, For Frank Zappa’s “Joe’s Garage” by The Ticket Holder’s Awards. Best Composition at the American-Romanian Music Days Festival. I’ve written music for films, television, and the stage. My concert music has been performed internationally by various chamber music groups. My ‘Concerto for Tenor Saxophone and Orchestra” was recently recorded by the Chamber Orchestra at St. Matthew’s and put to video, and was up for Grammy consideration: Also a novelist, my first published work, a sci-fi novel “Falling From Eden, Inc.” After receiving the runner up in the sci-fi category at the Los Angeles Book Festival and the first honorable mention at the New England book festival. It made it onto the Amazon international bestseller list: I’m also an exercise junky, I workout daily and I teach group fitness classes at Gold’s Gym. I'm a very easy going guy, as a host I try to give you all the privacy to need. I try to stay out of your way. What are 5 things you can’t live without? Interesting question. I take my bass with me any time I leave town, so that must one thing I apparently can't live without. Other than that, I'm a bit simple and generally go with the flow. I've traveled all over the world usually with bands or various music gigs. So often my stay was short. I like learning about the history of places and the weirder and more tumultuous the stories the better. I remember going to Malta that had a surprisingly interesting history. One of my all time favorite novels is Perfume by Patrick Süskind, One of my all time favorite movies is "Allegro Non Troppo" I listen to a lot of books on tape, usually as I drive around LA or KC. When I do that, I like thrillers, mysteries, sic-fi, and humor: i.e. Carl Hiaasen, Tim Dorsey, Dick Francis, Michael Crichton, Jonathan Kellerman, Kurt Vonnegut, etc. I like weird music but fairly mainstream books. I care about my environment (I'm a taurus, apparently that's one of our things) So I keep my place nice, and peaceful and if there are things that can make the experience better let me know.
