Hello dear African lovers, my name is Gerda, I was born in 1961 in a small village in Bavaria, Germany. My first trip to Kenya was in 1984 and I directly fell in love with this beautiful country and its amazing wildlife. Since then I kept on travelling to Kenya again and again and I knew, one day I would try to make a living there. So, in 2000, at the age of 38, I emigrated to Kenya and I started my work in Mombasa. In the beginning I planned and managed safari tours through the Eastern part of Africa. During that time a lot of visitors gave me the idea to build a basis camp and thus, only three years later, I found a nice place in Talek, a small village in the north of Masai Mara. Actually, I started on a campsite with a small shower and a toilet, but that was just the beginning. Since 2005 (with our first solid tent) the Aruba-Mara Camp has grown a lot: Nowadays you can find 16 tents in three categories (bush, comfort and luxury tents) and there is also a campsite. I love to sit together with my guests around our cozy fireplace or veranda with its amazing view giving any tips and advice. I also like to help all my visitors to plan their journey with my profound knowledge about Eastern Africa and safaris. Our guests can either come for a short time to visit our camp and great restaurant or they can additionally book game drives to Masai Mara National Park or even longer safari trips through Kenya. I always do my very best to keep all our guests happy and make them feel like home in my Aruba-Mara Camp. So I want to welcome everybody to this wonderful place close to Masai Mara.
