自我介绍

I am a semi-retired teacher who still works, mainly from home, but also occasionally in Oxford. I have 3 grown-up daughters who all live their own lives. In my 20s I spent 3 years living in Denmark and one year in France before returning home to settle down; my knowledge of Danish and French is now very rusty but I always watch the subtitled Scandinavian and French drama series (The Killing? Engrenages?) that are shown on BBC4 and Channel 4. I enjoy meeting people from other countries. I have relatives in Canada, the States and Australia; in fact it was the experience of an Aussie great-nephew who had a very happy time travelling round the world using airbnb, that encouraged me to join up as a host. I have a house lined with books, cluttered with various musical instruments (which only get played in the school holidays, well away from earshot of anyone else), and piles of films on DVD, as I used to teach Film and Media as well as English literature. I also love walking and feel lucky to live here in West Oxfordshire in the foothills of the Cotswolds. There are rural walks in every direction from my house. I love film and theatre, and am a Friend of the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford and attend performances there regularly. Stratford is only a pleasant 50 minute drive from here; Woodstock and Blenheim Place are 10 minutes away; Oxford is 25-30 mins). The nearest train station is just 2 miles away, in Charlbury. The new Oxford Parkway station is about 22-25 mins., closer and much more convenient than the old Oxford Station. The Cotswold market towns of Witney and Burford are 15-20 mins away.
