自我介绍
I love creating large, bright environments where people can be PRESENT and explore the arts. I'm a sensitive, spiritual romantic with a double dose of imagination. A generalist, builder, entrepreneur and live solidly by the 80/20 rules of life engagement. I'm also moody, stubborn and cannot be found in the month of July. Professionally I'm an Experience Designer - specializing in local food systems and curating food-driven experiences. This spans; Restaurants, Festivals, Underground Experiences, Weddings (only special ones) and Pop-up Whatevers in the woods somewhere. Mad for the written word, the big picture, and my Akita, Chloe. I've been a local food advocate since working (well mostly surfing) in Tofino, BC in the 90's. I'm from Kitchener, Ontario - and have lived in Oaxaca, Sayulita, BC, Newfoundland, New York, Toronto and now Prince Edward County, ON. My goal is to live by the water, on a big piece of land and create a prospector tent 'outdoor camp & accommodation where groups can create 3day feasts, and come connect to nature, each other and themselves. Nothing stirs my soul more than a poetic novel, a good swim in a clean body of water, kitchen parties, bonfires, historic ruins or a wildly inventive adventures. The House is where I sleep & eat for a month post some life-capade or come home for a season and invite the city over. It somehow, magically, is quiet and still when you need it to be and a magnet for up and coming talent in my industry at others. We're always experimenting, pickling or brewing something around here. I host both Chefs and Artists-In-Residence to support the growing need for their incubation in large inspiring space. The shelves are full of my travels, grandpa's science equipment, cookbooks and ever present reminders of the west coast. The House as life I suppose is meant for exploration. 9 Things I Can't Live Without... good coffee Chloe the wolf sky & water & woods (equally) my oversize sketch book time to daydream spirit-adventures Into The Deep (a painting Nicholas Peat) my long walnut harvest table and maple syrup I think it's important to find physical spaces in the city that belong to you. You know, places to go on Mondays when you fake sick to work - or when visiting to recharge or renew your esprit. Your Secret Toronto (or wherever you are from) Top of my list: Gallery Italia at the AGO, on a sunny day in March preferably. It submerges you with the high light of the city. The bustle of Dundas street rendered silent through all that curved glass. Sitting among the big trees feels like a privilege here. You can savour the rare feeling of being grounded, 4 stories up. Also High Park...any day / weather of the week. No traffic noise, complex nature, that smell of sandy soil and conifers...gets me everytime What are you doing to do with this, your one Wild and Precious Life? -mary oliver
