自我介绍

Ciao! Hi! Shalom! I'm Kathryn, but you can call me Kate/Katie. I started my journey in the Eternal City in 2012, when I decided to leave my beloved island in the Philippines and go abroad for the first time to visit my mom in Rome, Italy. I was only meant to stay for a month as I was in university back home studying for a Fine Arts degree in Advertising Arts. Plans started to change when right after I landed, my mom took me to see the Colosseum. (I know, I know smh) As cliche as it sounds, I knew right then after seeing it that I was meant to stay and pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a professional photographer and traveling the world— and that’s exactly what I did coupled with resilience, hard work, patience, and faith. I went to university, worked part-time as an English teacher to support myself, and took on small sessions here and there. After a while it became evident that I wanted to do more photography, so I left my comfort zone and went full-time. I then discovered Airbnb while traveling across Europe and became a host once I got back after discovering my love for making guests feel at home in a place far away from home. And as you can imagine, I also became an experience host right after they launched Airbnb Experiences. Over time that has transformed into a lifestyle of hosting people from all around the world on various experiences that are both local and international— even launching a travel startup just right before Covid happened. I've loved this city from the moment I set my foot on it, that not only did I decide to stay but also followed my dreams of becoming a photographer and traveling the world one country at a time, and that’s the magic I hope to share with my guests too.
