FREE access to swimming pool, hot tube and BBQ area (all shared) ! Cardrona Hotel 1 ' walking : fantastic breakfast, lunch & dinners ! Small Daily shop 2 ' walk. Perfect for couples or solo. Situated in beautiful landscaped grounds. Charming & new studio of 31 sqm. King size only + optional Sofa-bed. New Washing & dryer machines. New dishwasher & new micro-wave. All kitchen facilities including dishwasher detergent. SOME coffee, tea, sugar, salt, shampoo, bath soap, washing soap & WC papers are provided (for a few days). Sheets, quilts & bath towels sets are also provided. Please note that if you are extremely sensitive to surrounding noise, you may sometimes be bothered by the occasional noise from the tenants above if they are particularly noisy. We stayed for three nights to attend the Wanaka airshow. The unit was as described and matched the photos and was OK for a short stay (and because we were mostly out during the day). We found it pretty noisy, guests in other units (next door and top floor) were very easy to hear. The unit is also quite dark and does not have storage for any gear, such as bikes, ski's etc. Other than that, it was clean, tidy, comfortable, easy to heat and located in a gorgeous valley. The Cardrona Hotel right next door is awesome and the drive into Wanaka is very scenic but takes around 20 minutes.
Clean and cozy. Just what we expected from the listing. Would have been nice to have more towels and forks. Otherwise, great place to stay between Wanaka and Queenstown. We would stay again if back in the area.
Very clean and tidy and great place to stay. Lounge, Kitchen and bedroom are all combined in the one room. Which was not a problem for me, but keep that in mind. :)
Nice basic room in a very peaceful location however inside looked a little tired. Table was chipped, blind covered in dust, a small amount of mould above shower on ceiling and very disappointing when we arrived late at night to find there was no toilet paper! That all said it’s in a lovely location and very handy for everything Queenstown has to offer.

The historic village of Cardrona is just 20-minutes from Wanaka. Situated on the famous Crown Range Road, the highest paved highway in the country, Cardrona Valley connects Wanaka and Queenstown and is part of a popular loop drive from Wanaka, through the Kawarau Gorge, Central Otago Wine region, and back to Wanaka. Either in a vehicle or on a road bike, this loop is a stunning and diverse monument to the natural beauty of New Zealand.
Retaining its vintage charm the iconic Cardrona Hotel at the heart of the village is one of the most photographed buildings in New Zealand. Originally built to quench the thirsts of gold miners, both European and Chinese in the early 1860’s, the hotel still serves patrons today all year-round, its a particular favourite for après ski in winter and a crisp beer in the summer sun. You can eat Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner here!
Best is to rent a car from Queenstown Airport. Don’t want to drive yourself to Cardrona? There are plenty of great alternatives! Daily bus transfers are available from Wanaka, Queenstown, Arrowtown & Cromwell : please, check on the web
