The house draws its particular charm from the uniqueness of its architectural surroundings. It is located inside an ancient baglio, a typical Sicilian rural courtyard enclosed with a large door, at the centre of which lies a mulberry tree. This is the most elegant house in the Baglio. Covering two levels, it has a total of over 110 square meters making it ideal accommodation for a family of 4/7 persons or two / three couples. On the ground floor there is a large living room with two sofas (one of which can be converted into a bed for two people), There is an elegant kitchen, a double bedroom, and a bathroom with shower. The kitchen, the living room and the bedroom all open onto a charming interior patio where guests can have breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as relax on a chaise long in absolute privacy. A brick staircase leads from the living room to the first floor. Here there is a spacious bedroom which has a reading area with two armchairs and a double bed which can be separated into two single beds. On request, we can add an extra bed, too. The room has an en-suite bathroom with shower. From this room, through a balcony overlooking the patio, you can access a beautiful terrace with a stunning view over the courtyard and roofs of the Baglio. Here you can sunbathe, sip an aperitif contemplating the light of the spectacular sunsets over the Gulf of Castellammare, and enjoy the cool of the evening. The house is the result of a recent and extensive restoration. The use of recycled materials, such as an antique ornate balcony with iron railings, and the choice of stone floorings and rustic wooden beams for the ceilings, give the house a special charm and character. The house has a heating system which makes it comfortable even for a winter stay.

Wir waren Anfang April 2024 zu viert (2 Paare) für ca. 2 Wochen dort, um den Westen von Sizilien (Erice, Monreale, Selinun, etc) zu erkunden. Dazu ist die Lage perfekt, mit dem Auro lässt sich alles in kurzer Zeit erreichen. Auch der Flughafen ist in einer halben Sunde erreichbar. Von dort gibt es auch eine Zugverbindung direkt in die Altstadt von Palermo (Centrale). Die Unterkunft ist geräumig, die Betten bequem und wie beschrieben, Elena ist sehr zuvorkommend und immer gut erreichbar. Falls sie mal nicht da ist, hilft Marilena vor Ort und ihr Mann bei allen Fragen und Wünschen, alles sehr gut organisiert. Danke für die schöne Zeit.
We stayed 9 nights in this beautiful, spacious two-bedroom house on a small, romantic historical farm, which was very peaceful and absolutely quiet, although located not very far from the high way. Everything was clean and modern and furnished with taste. We encountered Elena, an extremely supporting and caring host from far and a lovely housekeeper right there, who surprised us with fresh fruit and even a bouquet of freshly picked flowers. Elena's long list of recommendations were all accurate and very helpful. It was absolutely the perfect place for us. We explored the western part of Sicily on short day-trips within 50-60 min., great location. Due to Scirocco storms, it was also wonderful to stay in the house and courtyard for a day or two. Hard to leave, and we will definitely return!
This is the kind of place where you come and don't want to leave. We immediately wished we could stay longer. It is a tastefully reconstructed old house, lots of space, airy, bright, surrounded by citrus orchard. Has many corners to sit down and relax (common courtyard, private courtyard, terrace). It is a quiet and safe space, yet very close to highway and to Balestrate (for shoping). Elena was not physically present but she gave clear instructions and lots of tips beforehand (plus the kind caretaker Marilena with her husband were never too far). From the sights that we managed to visit we would recommend Zingaro national park, Monreale cathedral, Segesta archeological park, Erice. We were there beginning of February, family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) We wouldn't hesitate to return and stay much much longer! Thank you Elena for having us!
Elena war eine der Besten, wenn nicht sogar die beste Hostin, die wir jemals hatten, trotz physischer Abwesenheit. Sie war immer erreichbar und extrem hilfsbereit. Außerdem spricht sie an die 12-253728 Sprachen perfekt. Pro: - Unterkunft super geschmackvoll eingerichtet. - viel Platz - wunderschöner Hof - nette Katzen - man kann die Zimmer perfekt abdunkeln - hohe Wände - sehr sauber - sehr nette Hostin - nette Betreuung vor Ort - super Info PDF mit Aktivitäten vor Ort Contra: - Autobahn direkt in der Nähe. Man hört sie drinnen kaum (nur bei ungünstigem Wind) aber oben auf der Terrasse immer. - man teilt sich den Hof mit anderen Menschen (introverts Achtung!) Neutral: - Betten waren ok - Wasserdruck der Dusche wird dir nicht deine Seele abduschen aber für eine gründliche Reinigung reicht es. Ihr braucht unbedingt ein Auto. Elena hilft aber auch hier gern. Nehmt Mückendpray mit.

The house is situated in the countryside of Balestrate - a small town in the beautiful Gulf of Castellammare, set between Palermo and Trapani on Sicily's northern coast. The village and beach lie a mere 3km from the house, whilst the airports of Palermo and Trapani require just 20 and 35 minutes by car respectively. Thanks to its convenient location, many of Sicily’s natural splendours and artistic gems lie a mere stone’s throw from Balestrate (with visual and gastronomic treats including the tuna Scopello, the Zingaro Nature Reserve, San Vito lo Capo, Segesta, Erice, Monreale, Palermo and Selinunte). The coast of the Gulf of Castellammare alternates long stretches of sandy beach, ideal for those with small children, with spectacular rocky stretches interspersed with coves. You will be within touching distance of a variety of art venues, ranging from the famous archaeological sites of Segesta and Selinunte to the art of Norman Monreale and Palermo. Also nearby, the charming village of Erice provides spectacular views of the islands of Egadi and the salt pans of Trapani.
To get the most out of your stay at the Baglio, a car is needed. This will allow you to reach the nearest town and beach in 5 minutes and to easily reach all the places of art and nature in Western Sicily.
