Ida is a wonderful hostess. Her B and B is perfect and neat as a pin. Her hospitality was wonderful. I only hope I am in the area again.

This historic home feels more like a farm visit. It is way out in the country. I highly recommend arriving in daylight. The drive (which is grass) is hard to find. The drive is beautiful (cotton was in bloom when I was there). The house is charming and the tiny community build around the historic school is too. I had the only main floor bedroom. It was large and comfy with a bath right outside it in a private hall. North Carolina has been through a lot of rain/hurricane weather lately and the house was a little damp but Ms Ida is on the ball and I’m sure it’s a temporary issue. She was very kind to drive me to dinner and keep me company (not sure I’d have found it otherwise) and to tell me more about the history and current doings of the community.

Mama Hardy's is the #1 place to stay for a trip to Kinston. . . .a few minutes from Brothers Farm, a short drive downtown to Chef and the Farmer and other dining destinations. Historic home with many thoughtful touches for guests throughout. The sunlight in the kitchen, where we were able to help ourselves to the delicious breakfast offerings (including homemade muffins and jam), was especially lovely. If you come on the weekend, you can walk to the friendly and welcoming Institute United Methodist Church right up the road. Charming place to stay in eastern North Carolina for couples or families.
