The city offers great cultural sites with the oldest Scandinavian old town. This is a must when visiting Fredrikstad. In the city you will find nice shopping areas along the canal. Here you can also find several nice restaurants along the waterfront. This is a very nice area to go out for dinner in the evening. The surrounding just around the house is traditional Norwegian with white houses and short walk from the water. If you are looking for the classical Norwegian area to stay in, then this is it. Guests will have access to bicycles and you can enjoy a nice ride to one of the nice beaches on Kråkerøy. If you go further south on the various Islands, (Hvaler øyerne), you will quickly realise that you have arrived to a Scandinavian paradise.

Hvaler is an archipelago of 833 islands, islets and skerries. The Hvaler islands are well suited for diving, canoeing, fishing and hiking, as well as a relaxing day at one of the white beaches, or onboard the island-hop ferry. In the very end of Hvaler, Skjærhalden, you can see straight across to Sweden. That`s how close it is! Naturally you can also catch the local ferry from Norway to Sweden from Skjærhalden in Hvaler harbour.
