Place was easy to check into. AJ was responsive and easy to communicate with. Pool is not heated unfortunately. Rooms, beds and towels were clean. Neighborhood is nice and this place was a good place to stay. One of the rooms did have a little smell to it but it wasn’t over powering.

Cons: This place has the potential to be a showstopper… there a a few cosmetic touches and love needed in a few places and a communal gathering place indoors. My biggest takeaway is that it remains an option when you filter “whole house/entire residence” (or whatever the correct verbiage is). It definitely is not a whole residence you get to occupy. This home is a pretty nice sized ranch and it’s has 4 distinct, separate and isolated units… a converted garage, a small pool house and you units made by segmenting the residence (where he lives in the heart/center of). If you travel with a group and don’t mind being together but very separate this will work, if you’re a family that wants to be connected… this location will cause issues and who goes where challenges. There is no communal space outside of the pool area and non of the spaces offers a place to prepare meal (outside of a grill in the pool area). There are (what sounds like several) dogs in the renters residence… they barked a few times early, a few times late and every time AJ left the residence. Pros: AJ is present (if you need him) but practically invisible… He is flexible and accommodating (I messed up the reservation by a day and he assisted me with a work around) You are in a safe, well located area and the pricing is good. The pool area is nice. Overall… there is a lot of potential here, it will work for some and create challenges for others. It wasn’t the best of stays but it was far from the worst of stays as well.

This place (Poolside Guest Suites on Beasley Road) has a lot of potential. A LOT. This will probably score me a bad guest review, but I can't remain silent. We arrived in town, running late for a show. We stopped to drop off our luggage, and while entering the villas was a breeze, the filth of this place was appalling. When entering the garage apt., we were knocked over by the cigarette smoke. It seriously smelled like a 7-11 from 1983. None of us could sleep in it because the smell was sincerely overpowering. The southwest unit didn't smell as smoky, but instead had a pungent, greasy smell with a side of wet dog. We turned on the AC units and opened the windows to try and alleviate this while we were at the show, but to no avail. The other rooms were only slightly better, but still had various forms of filth. Bed sheets with human/animal hair and crumbs, cigarette burns in a comforter, dirt on floors and blinds. In the Pool House, the shower door would not close all the way without coming off the track, which is sketchy because it's a heavy glass door. We were making coffee by the pool, and the trash was filled with rotting fish AND MAGGOTS. Due to our busy wknd, we didn't get to spend much time on the premises. We notified the host after we left about our complaints, and he got defensive and deflected. It's apparently our fault for arriving to an Airbnb that we paid a significant amount of money for ($1,212 for 2 nights), expecting a clean and odorless property. He told us we should have contacted him immediately so he could get his cleaners there to fix things. The thing is we booked this two months ago. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS AT ALL. Especially when there's a $250 cleaning fee. From the host: "Guests not allowing me to alleviate issues, then threatening me with a bad review and asking for a refund goes into my review process as well. To put this behind us I would be willing to refund $100. After cleaning fees, Airbnb fees, and taxes that is 15% of my gross profit." I would've taken this refund, but I can't in good conscience suggest this property or give it a good rating. I realize the property is older, but it doesn't have to be so nasty inside. If this host really cares as much as he says he does, these issues would not exist and this property would be an amazing stay for a large group.
