We spent 3 nights on Hettie’s Island and they were 3 of the most memorable nights we have ever spent. Pubudu and Umesh are excellent cooks and lovely hosts. It would be difficult to describe the magnificence of the nature that surrounds Hettie’s home without falling short of words.. the place is breathtaking. Punchi Doowa will hold some of our best memories ever made. Thank you Hettie for the little paradise you’ve created in between the wild, calming nature. We love the humbleness of your home and we are so glad we got to meet you on our final day! A tip for the visitors: make sure you pack a pair of binoculars, there is so much to marvel at. And make sure to book an Ayurvedic consultation with Hettie. We were definitely glad we did so.

Amazing little bungalow on a serene and perfect private island. The hosts made us fantastic food on two occasions and it was amazing. Yoga with Hettie was also a highlight for Nick. Highly recommend this place, especially if you’re at home with nature. Thanks Hettie and team for an awesome stay!

We absolutely fell in love with Punchi Doowa. We travelled most of Sri Lanka but we both decided that Punchi Doowa was our favourite spot; the location is beyond beautiful, we could watch the birds, buffalo's, lizards and chipmunks and never get bored. It feels like your own serene peaceful little paradise. It is located in a town with very friendly locals. The two local hosts, Umesh and Pubudu, really make you feel at home and anything is possible. And what also made our stay epic is the incredible food Umesh and Pubudu made, seriously they are really good chefs!! Best Sri Lankan Curry and Coconut Rotti we had in our trip. The house itself is also beautiful, we loved the interior and the focus on details and nature. It feels isolated/remote but its actually pretty close to Mirissa. Also Hettie, the host of Punchi Doowa, is really easy to contact and helps out with anything you need. We hope to return someday and stay longer than one weekend! Greetings from the Netherlands.

Hettie has made a peaceful abode away from the humdrum of the busy city life. It's extremely peaceful and very close to the nature. We lived here for three days and we wished we had more time to spend here. Special thanks to Pubudu as well who made the most delicious food in Sri Lanka using mostly the vegetables growing in the backyard. We totally recommend this place to anyone visiting Srilanka and please make your stay is a long one. You'll be spoiled and won't feel like leaving this paradise.

What can we say, other than paradise. A most tranquil, beautiful setting, and villa. An opportunity to personally reflect on life and enjoy nature at its best.
