Being our first time in Nova Scotia bobs bnb couldn't have been closer to what we imagined the maritimes to look like! He urged us to get there b4 we even checked-in to see the waves but unfortunately missed our chance. He was prompt in letting us know there was a festival happening that week so we didn't get stuck in a parade seeing as how we had to go to work, or if we wanted to participate! Once at the bnb bob notice we were checking out the views and told us his story of how he arrived in Canada (worth the listen) and now is at sailors rest & in the midst of conversation we asked about seals and one happened to pop it's head out of the water at that exact moment. the scenery was spectacular and if you don't mind a few friendly free roaming chickens coming to say hello then this stay is not for you.. couldn't of been happier and quite frankly did not want to leave! thx Bob!!

When we arrived, there were probably 10 or so chickens in the yard and on the deck. There was chicken manure on the deck. We then went inside and found the quality of thee beds was terrible. The pictures in the listing misrepresented the actual look of the place. We thought we were getting a nice little house, but it was more like a camp. We had rented the place for a month but didn't even spend one night.

Spent a beautiful 3 days at Sailor's Rest. Our girls spent hours collecting sea glass on the beach, while we enjoyed the picturesque oceanview. Thank you Bob for your hospitality.

The main issue is that the house is very old. It has a very noticeable smell, especially on the first floor. The kitchen cabinets are old and filthy and have a bare minimum of dinnerware. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. Upon talking to us they have suggested a couple of options for us. The location is unbeatable. The view is just breathtaking and match the photos.

The view is incredible. Just sitting in the comfy reclining lawn chairs gazing at the ocean is a lovely way to spend an afternoon. It’s in a little residential neighborhood. Bob is a lovely host, responded immediately to questions/issues, and had lots of recommendations for nice walks and places to eat.   The cottage has some quirks – I had to be careful not to bump my head on the stairs (I’m 5’7”). The platform in the living room was so high it was an effort for me (age 66) and impossible for my wife who has bad knees to climb up on. But, Bob immediately came over when we let him know and he came up with a makeshift step for her to use. Despite its quirks, it’s a combination of rustic elements and loving decorative touches (birch branches in the dining room strung with mini lights, a driftwood sign reminding you not to flush anything in the toilet). Bring a sleep mask if you don’t want the beautiful sunrise to wake you at dawn! Overall: a lovely host and a gorgeous setting.
