An OFF THE BEATEN TRACK Nature Retreat. The charming old world stone cottage sits next to a magical little indigenous forest. Accessed via an 18 km GRAVEL ROAD which takes 40- 50 min to drive. A vehicle with good ground clearance is advised. The road meanders up a mountain, through commercial PINE plantations. Expect the call of bushbabies & jackal and to occasionally spot a shrew or gecko in the house. We do ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION, removing invasive trees, restoring to wilderness. The standalone stone cabin is set under large trees, is fenced in and has direct access to a lovely portion of forest with massive trees and a garden bench. The cabin is about 70 meters from our personal home, but there is no direct line of sight between the houses. The ground level rooms are cosy with space to unpack clothing. The loft room has no door or walls, only wood and mesh balustrade with curtains, and is accessed by a ladder. A gate with a latch provides extra safety when moving around the loft. Heating is provided by a log fireplace. A gas water heater provides hot water for the shower and kitchen. And a two plate gas cooker for preparing your own meals. The yard is next to a communal road running to our neighbours' properties, so expect vehicles to pass by from time to time. You can expect to hear the sounds of wild animals and birds during the day and night, as well as avocados falling on the verandah roof during summer, and small branches falling on the main roof on windy days.
A true gem where one can unwind and relax. Beautiful scenery, lots of walking trails, fresh mountain air and quietness galore. Thank you Lisa for sharing your piece of paradise with us
What an amazing get away in the bush. Secluded place if you want to have a great weekend away
We had a peaceful, relaxing stay at Klipinnibos. We loved the outside braai lapa area. We enjoyed the walks and were impressed with Lisa's dedication to reviving the natural, indigenous habitat.
Schoemanskloof is a gem of a destination on route to Kruger National Park from Gauteng.
Known for it's lush green summer vegetation and waterfalls visible along the cliffs during the rainy season, Schoemanskloof is a worthy slowing-down-and-disappearing-into-the-mountains-destination.
The dirt roads in our area meander along scenic forested ravines, mountain grassland and timber plantations. The road varies in quality during the different seasons, making it a great destination for 4x4 enthusiasts!
KLIPINNIBOS Nature Farm is a 40min drive from Sudwala Caves, an easy day trip distance from Sabie and the Panorama route with it's many famous waterfalls, Bourke's Luck potholes and the Graskop Gorge Lift.
Alternatively the Highlands meander via the very scenic Weltevreden dirt road offers more daytrip potential with creative tourist towns such as Dullstroom, and Emgwenya (Waterval Boven) and Waterval Onder along the route, with a potential detour to Kaapschehoop or Tonteldoos.
You will ideally need a vehicle with good clearance. Most hatchbacks will make it most of the year. Certain times of the year the road is quite bad and needs a 4x4. Enquire with us about the current state of the roads before you book.
Please call us before you start driving up the 18km dirt road. Make sure you start the drive at 16:00 at the latest. It takes between 35 min and 50 min to reach us, depending on your vehicle and the quality of the road.
