Great place to stay, really quirky and memorable!

It’s very difficult to put the Dodge into words. Sometimes you come across a place that’s so special, you simply cannot spell it - you can only be there to feel it and to experience it for yourself. But this is a review so I have to try to find the words and the first one that springs to mind is ‘fantastical’! After arriving, I found myself on a little magical mystery tour of Dodge, discovering intriguing and enthralling things in every nook and cranny. A tantalising feast for the senses indeed! Two difficult decisions followe - do I sleep at the bow or the stern, and do I leave this wonderland to go on a little Shoreham pub-crawl?? In the next few days, I did a bit of it all!! As for the great creator himself, Hamish is the perfect host and I’m fairly sure that he must be some kind of wizard genius - and a lovely, kind one at that. Shoreham’s special too. Lovely people, river, sea, close to the Downs, quirky shops, friendly pubs and a bus-ride to Brighton. What more could you want?

Really fun place to stay

“If Tolkien and Gaudí went on Scrapeheap Challenge” is my favorite description. Utterly fantastic, a sheer delight! We stayed 2 nights for our anniversary. The boat was so enjoyable we only left once to take a walk. The houseboat community itself is a marvelous quirky place and we enjoyed strolling around looking at all of the boats. The space is equipped nicely for self catering, we made all of our meals on the boat. The beds were cozy and the space was nice and warm with a wood burner & heaters. The creativity involved in the building of the Dodge is inspiring. Better than the pictures. A real special little place to stay!

We had a lovely stay at the dodge, it’s an amazing living piece of art! It gets better the longer you stay. Woodburner was great and kept us cosy. Bed boat was genius and the little shower was surprisingly good. Would love to come back with better weather. Thanks for sharing your special home.
