Located in the heart of India, in the Vindhyan range, with the picturesque river Ken flowing through, the Panna National park is a prime example of the turnaround that can be brought about by careful nurture of both the Forest Department and dedicated wildlifers. Tiger sightings have increased manifold and the magnificent central Indian Teak forests are a sight to behold. The Bagoha Wilderness Retreat offers a stand alone, rustic, private hideaway surrounded by forests of the Gangau Sanctuary on the banks of the Ken river where a group of friends or a family can enjoy peace and serenity that only the jungle can offer. Morning and evening treks with a guide from the lodge can, very frequently, lead to Sloth Bear, Hyena and Leopard sightings. The extremely rare Caracal also makes and occasional appearance. Marsh Crocodiles can be seen basking on the Ken. Mahaseer angling on the ken and night drives can be arranged with the permission of the Forest department. Jeep safaris in the nearby (6 kms) Panna National Park, the temple town of Khajuraho (32 kms), the medieval township of Panna (22 kms), the nearby Raneh and Pandav falls, the Ken Gharial Sanctuary, the Ajaigarh fort and the unique diamond mines can be organized. Airport and railway station pickups can be provided. The cottage offers three rooms with attached toilets, a dip pool and open air terrace dining with a maximum accommodation of 5 adults. Delicious, homemade wholesome breakfast and meals are available at reasonable cost.
