Bucaro is a little fishing village that's about 20 minutes from Tonosi. Tonosi has a bank, grocery stores, and a bus station. That's where you can get cash, groceries, pharmacy, gas, etc. There is also a hospital here as well as hardware stores, produce stands, and a police station.
We are located in a private, gated community in the Bucaro hills. The property is designed to accommodate natural elements (trees, animals, etc.) and blends well with the surrounding tropical jungle. Monkeys, toucans, hummingbirds, dragonflies, and more are our neighbors. The homeowners up on this hill are mostly retired expats, and the vibe is very private and relaxed. If you want to get away from it all and hear nothing but the sea, the wind, and the monkeys (plus the faint sounds of tipico music from the cantina in the town far below), you're in the right place!
Our property overlooks the sea, but we also have private beach access that's about a 15 minute jungle drive from us. This beach is called Ostional, and it's like having your own private beach to yourself. Fishing, snorkeling, waterfalls in the rainy season, it's our little paradise.

GETTING HERE-- To get to us, you can fly into Panama and then make the 6 hour drive in your car rental. There is also a regional flight from Albrook Airport in Panama City that can take you as close as nearby Pedasi (1 hour drive from us).
ENTERING BUCARO-- You will take a long, winding road through farmland mixed with jungle hills for about 10 minutes. Then, you'll pass through the Bucaro village with the sea at your left. Bucaro is an officially recognized port, and most of the inhabitants of the pueblo are fisherman. You will pass a church, a school, a soccer field, and a few cantinas until you arrive at the end of the road. We will give you the code for the gate at the end of the road, and that's it. Vacationing in this area is so much fun, but a car is pretty essential if you want to get the most out of your trip. Our property is located in a private, gated community atop a large scenic hill that shares space with a protected reserve.
To get to the property, you need a 4WD vehicle.
2WD vehicles can make it up the hill, but you may have to park about 100 meters from the property if you have trouble (then you just walk down). We recommend 4WD as well for those who want to venture out to Cambutal and surrounding areas with steep inclines and dirt roads.
CAR RENTALS-- Car rentals are available from major brands in Panama at the airport and in the city. There are also car rental firms closer to us in Chitre (2 hours away). The closest place to rent a car from us is called Autos Panama in Pedasi (1 hour drive).
