埃特纳(Etna) · 民居里的独立房间 · 2室2床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · 2 Bed Home Walkable | Stocked Kitchen | Quiet
•1 queen bed • 1 full bed •Fully stocked kitchen •in-unit laundry •walkable to all restaurants Book this cozy, centrally located home and access just 2 of the bedrooms. You'll have the whole home to yourself, but only use the downstairs. This saves you from paying to use all 3 bedrooms as the third upstairs room will be locked. You'll enjoy the full bath, kitchen with everything you'd need to prepare meals, and living area as well as the bedrooms Guests love this clean, little house! The Main Street Cottage is in the heart of a sweet, quiet, mountain town. From the front yard you'll see you're surrounded by the neighbor's backyards. It is quite private in this way- you can't see the house from the street; if you blink, you might miss it. This 1949 cottage has been completely refinished with new flooring, paint, insulation, washing machine & dryer, and windows so it will be the perfect place for you to rest after work and before you explore the nearby outdoor adventure opportunities. There's a sunny dining area adjacent to the kitchen. You won't be greeted by the sounds of traffic nor hustle and bustle but instead, the sounds of birds in the large shade trees and sometimes you'll hear a cow calling for her calf nearby. Neighbors can be heard working in their gardens and visiting with one another. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, electric range, and all the cookware, utensils, and dishes you'd need to prepare meals including Le Creuset skillets and a dutch oven, and Pampered Chef pizza stove. Apartment-sized washer and dryer are on-site for your convenience. The downstairs bedrooms have blackout curtains (my husband's favorite as he too works overnight sometimes!) and charming built-in dressers. The bedroom windows look out onto the large yard, a quiet private drive lined with blackberry vines belonging to a neighbor, and into the leafy shade trees. The Julie Bedroom has a queen bed while the Hillary Bedroom has a full. The single bathroom has a small footprint but has all the essentials. The shower tub combo is a comfortable size and the bathroom is adjacent to a little linen closet room used for extra storage. The living area is snug, and looks out onto the lawn and little pond where you can see the resident goldfish that have lived in the pond for many years. In the living is the easy-to-use monitor heater, which is the heat source for the home. You can enjoy the tv which is provided with Roku for streaming, as well as included Wifi. There's a landline telephone for local and emergency long distance calls as well; while power outages are rare, they do crimp our internet-connected life and as some cell carriers may not have perfect service in Etna, we feel a landline is an important utility.
Walkable to eateries, this home is surrounded by the backyards of our elderly neighbors. They are all terrific folks who appreciate the culture of quiet and respect in Etna. Etna is a very safe town and you may see deer in the yard in the morning and can hear farmer's cattle mooing, too.
The local elementary school is within a five minute's walk, as are the San Fransisco Chronicle-featured Denny Bar (an excellent restaurant and distillery), Pay Streak Brewery, the lovely Grain Street Bakery, and several other great coffee shops and bakeries, library, grocery store, post office, the wonderful hair salon Tangles, antique & thrift stores, churches, hardware store, bank, and more. Down the main highway a few miles in the nearby town of Fort Jones (through which you'd drive on your way to Yreka, CA) you can grab a burger and sidecar at Five Mary's Farms Burgerhouse, of 'Gram fame, @fivemarysfarms or a morning coffee and bite to eat at the Gifted Horse.

Etna is about 30 minutes from Yreka, which is just off the I-5. There you'll find a WalMart, Raley's, Grocery Outlet, and other shopping and dining opportunities.
Etna is at about 2,800 feet elevation so that means it normally cools off at night in the summer, down to the 50s or 60s from a daytime summer high of 80-90 degrees. We often have snow in the winter, but rarely so much that driving is impeded for more than a few hours. It is rare to get over a foot of snow, for example. The local economy is made up of cattle and timber industries, as well as tourism. Outdoor lovers enjoy skiing and snowshoeing, stand up paddle boarding, hiking, biking, and swimming in mountain lakes. Even if you're more the indoorsy type, you'll love the slow pace and quiet life as a sensory reset. See more about beautiful Siskiyou County here: https://discoversiskiyou dot com
You have exclusive access to parking in the driveway and there is free parking available on the street. You can walk to the downtown area of Etna, but beyond getting around Etna to greater Scott Valley area, you'd drive.
