Robert and Joanie’s home was conveniently located near Wilkesboro, NC. It was clean and comfortable, and they attended to details that made our stay pleasurable. I’d stay again!!

Two of my friends stayed at the Cottage on the Hill in January. When we decided to take this trip, they insisted we stay at the Cottage on the Hill. Now I know why they insisted! Robert & Joanie called a few days before our trip to introduce themselves, give needed details for our stay, & encourage us to enjoy our stay! The check-in/out times were flexible. They were so kind to leave us local honey, muffins, & a card with a note to welcome us. The cottage is immaculate, organized, & had everything we needed & more. Plenty of snacks & drinks provided. If there's a personal care item you left at home, they've most likely got you covered. I haven't found this kind of hospitality anywhere else I've stayed. The cottage & its surroundings are incredibly peaceful & the view is great! Two groundhogs across the street provided some laughs & we loved watching the cows. The quiet surroundings & great beds provided a good night's rest. We're definitely going back to the Cottage on the Hill.

There is a good reason these hosts are 'superhosts'. The place is very clean and very inviting. There are a number of small things that they do or what is provided that anyone is certain to find one, two or likely more 'little' items or actions that will make their stay pleasant. The kitchen has what is needed for basic cooking - if you plan anything extensive as we did, make sure that you bring what you need, though there are grocery stores within a 20 minute drive. The best compliment from my husband - 'the knives are good'. There is a lot to do here - Stone Mountain State park is a short drive away which is why we chose this location. There are also the Elkin Valley trails accessed in Elkin, and some trails within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park that are not far by car. This was a wonderful place in a great location to access trials and town activities. You do need a car. (Also want to promote the Elkin Farmer's Market on Saturday morning.)

Very peaceful and the cottage was within 30-45 min. to different small towns. This suited us very well. We plan to return in the spring.
