We’ve discovered a unique part of the south of France that’s just a little on the wild side, steeped in mystical ancient history, and as beautiful as you can imagine. It’s a region where gorgeous chateau ruins abound amidst a fascinating mystical history. You can also explore hilltops and valleys, nearby hot pools, caves, canyons, enjoy superb off and on-road cycling, hiking, kayaking, rafting, climbing, and canyoning. Saint-Jean-de-Paracol is a cosmopolitan village nestled in the upper slopes of a valley which follows the river Faby to its convergence with the river Aude, in Espéraza.  Filled with an inspiring mix of local French people and immigrants, artists and creatives, many of its inhabitants are doing creative activities daily, whether it's gardening, painting, teaching, crafting, building or composing. It's a somewhat busy, flourishing village during the day, but deeply tranquil in the night, evenings and early mornings. Surrounding our village is a rich, luscious landscape of rolling hills covered in forests, streams, and grassy meadows lined with wild flowers. Nearby alleys are filled with vineyards, rivers, fields of sunflowers and wheat, and tiny villages sporting exquisite yet slightly wild gardens filled with the sound of birdsong and cow bells. Although the village has no shop, there are supermarkets and bio stores a short drive away, but best of all is the local Sunday market in Espéraza, a world-class market full of expert food vendors from various traditions (including French and German-style bread, numerous local cheese producers, organic produce, and local artisans of all kinds). We also supply you with a list of our favorite local attractions. On the other side of Espéraza, is the magnificent hamlet of Rennes-le-Chateau, famous for its mystical and conspiratorial history.

You better need a car to get to St Jean de Paracol. You can rent cars from Carcassonne, Toulouse or Barcelona airports.
However, you can arrive by train and bus.
