This house is in a fantastic location, close the beach, and a short walk to the wharf and cafes. It was a great size for our big family group, with plenty of space. It was immaculate on our arrival and was well kitted out. Bachcare was also a proactive and clear host. We had seen in recent reviews that the lift is no longer operating, and that does make it essentially two separate residences. That worked with our group's make-up, but may not for others. The only thing that would make this place even better is some general TLC - a newer, more reliable oven or the addition of a BBQ, general maintenance on the stairs and decks, and working AC. Making this investment will ensure this place is an excellent place to stay in Whitianga and will really pay off for the owners.

Overall it is a beautiful home in a great location for beach access. There is no interior connection between the two levels which did make coordinating with our large family group a bit inconvenient - we had a couple get locked out of either their bedroom downstairs or the main kitchen upstairs. Other than that though we had a great time and the house had a good feeling about it - loved all the birdsong and the sound of the ocean!

No internal stairs between the 2 levels. Internal stairs is something we assumed a 2 level house would have as a standard feature. Its advertised as a 6 bedroom home, but in reality it's a 3 bedroom house upstairs and a 3 bedroom apartment downstairs. There is a lift between the 2 levels but bachcare do not know how to make it work. We suspect its broken or not been working for a long time. It rained the entire long weekend and we had to go out in the rain every time anyone needed to go between levels. Very annoying. The oven is gas only and does not work properly. We managed to get the Gas oven running, but the flame is so low, that it can't get hot enough to be useful.

Great place really close to Buffalo Beach and town centre with restaurants/cafes within walking distance. Loved the place and the relaxed feeling only negative I have about this listing was when I asked to reduce our days of stay was told couldn’t as per Bachcare policy. There is nothing in the listing about not being able to reduce days of stay or anywhere you can read their policies. Other than that fabulous place which is fully kitted both upstairs and downstairs. Would definitely stay again.
