This cozy and equipped house is perfect for people looking to be in a quiet, isolated and natural environment, away from the noise of the city, who want to walk and enjoy the outdoors, without having to travel far: the park is very close to Bogota. It is a perfect place to relax, disconnect from screens and live in harmony with nature. The red house is unique: though it sits in the heart of the Chicaque nature reserve, surrounded by lush nature and imposing landscapes, it nontheless hosts the comfort and amenities of of a suburban home. Built in the late 1940s when the materials had to be brought to site on horseback, it has been remodeled gradually over the decades to replace the outhouse for bathrooms with hot water, connect to the power grid, replace the fireplace with an efficient wood stove, enlarge the windows to let in plenty of sunlight. What is more, the horse trails that where the only way to get to the house is now a road that allow 4x4s to reach the front porch. Although the house lets its guests feel as if they were in a remote forest hundreds of km away from any town or city, Bogota lies just 33 km away. There are three independent rooms, one with a private bathroom and each with a double bed. Supplementary single beds can be put up if necessary. Both bathrooms and the kitchen sink have hot water. The dining room has an ample round table. The living room is comfortable, with two sofas, a TV (and DVD player) and a wood stove for when the rainy season arrives with its mist and cool weather. The kitchen is completely equipped and functional, with a big gas stove and electric oven. Satellite internet is provided. The garden is spacious, with an organic vegetable garden, a table with umbrella and chairs, hammocks, a trampoline, a playground and playhouse for children. There is also a basketball hoop, and badminton gear.
