Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Chafariz 38 Join us and stay in one of our private guesthouses on our family home and gardens. Chafariz 38 is nestled amongst the hills 30 minutes south of Coimbra, 1.5 hours to Porto, and 2.5 hours to Lisbon. We care for a variety of trees- apples, peaches, apricots, olives, plums, oranges, grapefruit, and have a growing list of additional trees we have planted to diversify our land. Our young vineyard is always organic, and normally zero intervention. When we have to intervene we only use organic products to help keep our vines healthy and the wine optimal. Between the vines we rotate crops seasonally, both to provide fertilisation and improve soil microbe quality, and to create diversity and a sanctuary for wildlife and insects. We have planted most of the garden to be drought-tolerant and we strive to support native species of all types. Our property has a sauna. This is for our guests enjoyment and the use is included in our rates. We ask our guests to chose a 3 hour time-slot where they will enjoy the sauna. We aim to give our guests everything they need for complete privacy and relaxation. Additional extras: (Upon request) We are able to arrange for our guests (staying longer than just the weekend) a fresh catch of the day. Delivery is Wednesday and/or Friday. You wont find fresher fish- it comes straight from the sea that morning. We also have a local bakery who will bring fresh bread daily for you to enjoy. Our garden and lands are completely organic. When available we will always share our produce with our guests. We offer a welcome basket with basic regional foods for you to try and common items for cooking- especially nice if you are arriving late or simply too lazy to go shopping! We will always work to improve our relationship with planet earth. Chafariz 38 is powered by the sun, with additional power provided by the grid during the evenings. Happily a large majority of power in Portugal is renewable. We believe ourselves to be custodians of our land and home and we are proud and very lucky to have been welcomed into the Portuguese way of life.
