We had a wonderful stay of more than 6 weeks at this wonderful place with our baby. The entire complex of an old warm is really nice, you have privacy, but can also meet other people and bbq. The nice beach is a 15min walk away, it’s next to the street but it’s a quiet one. Same goes for grocery shopping. Pilar provided everything we needed, even some baby specific items. And her staff is extremely helpful and nice, cleaning regularly and helping with everything. The apartment is a little bit dark, when it’s too cold to leave the door open, but has everything you need and is really cosy. The kitchen is equipped well. Highly recommended, especially during off season, when Altura is quit and the beach is empty.

My wife and myself travel a lot but this was our first visit to Portugal. We were a bit nervous before leaving to go there mostly because we were concerned whether there would be language challenges for a two month stay, etc. Boy! Were we wrong. The stay at Pilar's place became more like a family affair. We were welcomed with open arms, felt extremely comfortable, provided with lots of assistance and guidance from Pilar, her staff and those staying there. We left there with some great new friends and wished we could have stayed longer. Nature was all around us because it is on a 10 hectare site and less than a 15 minute walk to the beach. There were lots of bird watching sites around, which is my favorite pass time. There were three grocery stores within a 5 min walk of the place, so we had everything we needed. Recommend the place 100%.

Pilar’s little village of Monte de Lagoa is a magical place: it’s close to the incredible beaches of Altura and beyond (you can walk for miles), and a very private place on the hill above the lagoon. It’s close to town and many grocery stores and cafes- and an easy drive to Spain for a taste of a different culture (and time zone!). Pilar is a wonderful hostess who made us feel like family from the start and Mr. Luis and team quickly and cheerfully took care of every small repair that we needed. We made friends with several of the other guests in the large complex and everyone was friendly, helpful, and happy to be in Altura and staying with Pilar.

Jolie petite maison dans un grand jardin avec petite piscine et barbecue à 2 minutes du village et d'une belle plage. À éviter avec de petits enfants en cas de très grosse chaleur (pas de climatisation)
