We very much enjoyed our visit to Karen's house. We love the location because it is only a 10 mile drive to Lost River State Park where we love to hike. Also it only a couple of miles from a new pizza place or the Lost River Grill and 1 mile down the road from the local Baptist Church we attended. My daughter loves it because it is one of the few places where she can let her dogs out to run a little bit and do their business but know that they are secured in the fenced-in backyard. The decor of the house is very quaint and enjoyable and the kitchen is well-stocked with all the right kitchen utensils and hardware. This is my 3rd visit to the house because we enjoy our stay here and it is the perfect spot to enjoy vacationing in the Lost River area.

This is a very charming, comfortable and cozy place that sits in a beautiful setting. We loved staying here and hope we have a chance to do so again. Karen is an excellent host, and her digital guide to area was so helpful in directing us straight to everything we wanted to see or do in the area.

I chose Karen’s farmhouse because of its dark sky location so I could take photos of the Geminids meteor shower in mid-December 2023. The location did not disappoint. It is definitely dark at the farmhouse and so are the surrounding parks. I got some wonderful photos for my personal portfolio. The neighborhood is quiet, but also a very reasonable drive from Washington, DC. I visited Luray Caverns for a day trip and it was an easy hour drive into Virginia. The nearby town of Lost River is mostly farm country but there are a few restaurants and an artist collective that sells goods from local artists—I really enjoyed seeing how creative the local arts population are. I enjoyed the serenity and quiet of the farmhouse and appreciated that I could capture the stars right outside the backyard.
