We had a fantastic stay. The room was beautifully furnished and the bed and pillows were very comfortable; we both slept very well. We had everything we needed in Lydia’s place as all amenities were provided. Lydia was an excellent host. She was flexible and courteous and made us feel so welcome. We are so glad we chose to stay in Lydia’s place.
If you are looking for a great place to stay in Hemel Hempstead and with an incredibly welcoming and dedicated host, Lydia's property is your best option. The house and the street on which it is situated fully resemble the charm of a British neighbourhood, without missing on the gorgeous gardens filled with blossomed flowers. The room is lovely and cozy, and the amenities provided were in pristine condition. The location is extremely advantageous, being comfortably within walking distance from the train station, bus stop, plenty of grocery stores and a nice pub. The first thing I noticed about Lydia was her heartwarming persona. She was always very responsive, always eager to help and did everything in her powers for me to enjoy my stay with her. And I definitely did.

When the Grand Union Canal was cut through Apsley, it put the town on the main trade route to London. Today, the old towpath serves as a wonderful cycle route from nearby Hemel Hempstead or Kings Langley.
Apsley was once an important centre for paper manufacture. The Grand Union Canal transported huge amounts of raw materials on barges to the paper mills here. Full-scale production of paper only ended in the Second World War. Today, the old industrial buildings are now cafés, pubs and the Paper Trail visitor centre at Frogmore Mill.
Check out all the boats in the marina, or even better get a birdseye view from the corkscrew bridge. There is also a small kids' playground near the hump-back bridge just off the canal. All in all, it makes Apsley a great place to visit!
The canal is a green ribbon running through Hemel Hempstead and Apsley. Perfect for a nature trail to see some great wildlife and experience nature close at hand.
Apsley station is 35 mins to London Euston. The property is 5min walking distance from ApsleyTrain Station and Hemel Hempstead is further about 30min walk, or short cab ride. We are 2 stops from Watford Junction and Harry Potter studio. Easily accessible by car from junction 20a on the M25 and Junction 8 on the M1. Sainsbury super market is 5mins walk away. There are cafes and pubs all along the canal to enjoy. Parking is free on street or off street if available.
