We have had the most enjoyable weekend in the most beautiful cosy cottage. Attention to detail is outstanding. Thoughtly surprised with the Prosecco, vase of yellow roses, eggs, milk, great coffee pods were all wonderful treats. The cottage is spotlessly clean and gardens and views are wonderful. Thank you Katherine for all you done for us to make our little holiday so special. David & Michelle
Wonderful host who goes above and beyond to ensure you have an enjoyable stay - lots of thoughtful touches such as treats for the dogs, Prosecco on arrival and fresh eggs for breakfast.
Had the greatest stay at Katherine's cottage with my best friend. Immediately we entered the cottage we felt cozy and everything was immaculately clean. A bottle of Prosecco greeted us and everything we could possibly need during our stay. We were fortunate to have some lovely weather during our stay so were able to make the most of the outdoor space and beautiful views. We didn't use my car the entire weekend as were able to walk to Sheldon and along the coastal route from the cottage. Thank you for a wonderful stay
Our gorgeous cottage looks out over the River Teign and down towards the seaside town of Teignmouth. We are lucky to be in a semi rural location with countryside views and pretty villages such as Shaldon, Combeinteignhead and Stokeinteignhead nearby.
We are well located so you can explore all that Devon has to offer.
During your stay here, should you decide to venture from the cottage to explore more of this lovely part of Devon I have included some "hopefully" useful information.
Newton Abbot train station is approximately a 10-minute drive.
Teignmouth train station 10 minute drive
Dartmoor – 25 minute drive
Torquay – 15 minute drive
Totnes – 25 minute drive
Exeter – 30 minute drive
Dartmouth – 40 minute drive
Plymouth – 45 minutes drive
The Devon Expressway(A380) is less than 10 minutes away. Where you can either head to Torbay or direct access to the M5.
There are local buses running from Shaldon.(Bridge Road) and Teignmouth.
Taxi services are based in Teignmouth or Newton Abbot.
Exeter airport is approximately 25 minutes drive.
If you fancy a walk from the cottage, at the top of the drive turn right, past the black barn on your right then take the next turning left. Approximately 1 mile (note, hilly off road track, advisable to wear water proof footwear/wellies if it’s been raining) this will lead you to Stokeinteignhead village, a really pretty, typical Devon village with thatched cottages, a church, village hall, community shop and a great pub called the Church House Inn(Traditional privately owned). It has a beer garden, serves food and is dog friendly.
Alternatively, if you prefer to drive, turn right at the top of the drive, after a few minutes you will reach Combeinteignhead, then take a left and drive for a further 5 minutes and you will be in Stokeinteignhead.
Alternatively why not head to Shaldon. Turn left at the top of the drive and there’s about a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive to the village of Shaldon. (note, if your walking, there is no path until you get to the village).
Shaldon is another great place to visit. A pretty estuary village with a butchers, bakers, chemist, post office, convenience store, pubs, cafes, beaches and even it’s own zoo! A must place to visit.
Turn right at the top of the drive, Less than 5 minutes drive is Combeinteignhead. A small village with a church, village hall (look out for the notices for film nights or the weekend breakfasts)
The Wild Goose, traditional country pub(independently owned) does great food and good ales. It has a small beer garden and is dog friendly. My local.
Nearby is Coombe Cellars (Mitchells & Butchers) Situated on the River Teign, spectacular river views, one of the best places to watch some of the amazing sunsets we get here in Devon. Panoramic views to Haytor, Dartmoor and down to Teignmouth and Shaldon at the mouth of the estuary.
The sailing club operates from here and there is a slipway. There are also nice walks, one being the Templar Way, which starts on Dartmoor and finishes at the sea port of Teignmouth.
More places to visit -
