Located on the Miramichi River headwaters, this 5 acre oasis borders Irving’s immense central NB forestry holdings. The water usually runs cool and clear plus you’ll enjoy the fantastic dark night sky. Pass quiet hours in a screened porch rocking chair & catch an occasional train passing by (avg. 4-6 daily). With a huge front lawn, guests will also appreciate the lengthy river frontage and 2 large ponds. Enjoy the seasonal hiking, biking, quading, foraging, snowmobiling, fishing & hunting. We are very excited to offer lodgings on the uppermost reaches of the world-renowned Southwest Miramichi River. We border a vast private wilderness area and have many quiet trails and back woods ecosystems to visit. Get back to nature at our fortress of solitude where you’ll love the private, large space outside as well as comfortable 1100 sq feet inside. The wide screened front porch with its’ panoramic river view will be the ideal way to start that perfect vacation morning! Head out on miles of quiet woods roads. See the tree farm greenhouses on your walk to the small airport. Head out on the hundreds of miles of off-road trails or take a canoe/kayak trip to the picnic grounds (approx 4 hours). The building was constructed by the owner of a large lumber mill and was selected primarily for the salmon fishing access. The lot is the last privately owned land on this stretch of the Miramichi where healthy headwaters are essential to preserve for the benefit of the declining salmon runs. You’ll enjoy a large space with 3 bedrooms and few (3) short entrance stairs to navigate as everything is on a single level. A well equipped kitchen awaits your culinary preparation skills. The rocking chairs in the screened porch and a multitude of songbirds, in season, will help to melt those stressors away. Spin a few records on the turntable or try your voice out on the karaoke system to round out your day.
Super friendly hosts, beautiful spot with so much nature to admire. 5⭐️ We will be back!
Nestled in a gorgeous location along a river, with private, peaceful location was perfect for a solo retreat, but with 3 bedrooms, it could also accommodate a family. The cabin was spotless and comfortable. Highly recommended. I hope to stay here again.
Our stay was great. The property has a beautiful yard and screened in sun room. It was a very peaceful stay.
We stayed here during the Labour Day weekend, it was nice and spacious, fully stocked with everything you would need. Timothy and his wife were very friendly, also had left us a bottle of blackberry jelly which was very delicious. My son and daughter in law brought the dog and we had lots of area for her to run and play. We loved the extras also like the games, cds, records. Thank you so much for having us and we will be back soon.
We love the solitude and, in over 4 years residence, have not had a single salesman/LaterDaySaint knock on our doors! We are constantly seeking affordable improvements and welcome suggestions. This is our “old age” cottage for use after it gets too strenuous for us to cross/climb the railroad tracks to access our 1930s camp across the river. We take great pride in our offering and hope you thoroughly enjoy your stay.
Alert - you’re in rural NB and 15 minute walks may take an hour as Juniper folks are very gregarious and talkative!
Make sure to try out a burger at the local watering hole. The Pour House makes excellent, tasty and affordable pub fare from Thursdays through Sunday.
A riverside canoe/kayak entry point and picnic area is a short walk away and has a nice swimming area for public enjoyment. We prefer to swim in front of the camp.
Bring your camera! So far this year, we’ve spotted moose, deer, skunk, muskrat, wild turkey, groundhogs, rabbits, ducks, eagles and geese.
Private road access to New Brunswick’s extensive trail system starts across the road from our driveway so don’t hesitate to bring along your off-road toys.
You’ll need transportation for groceries as the Co-Op grocery store is about 20 miles away. There is a small convenience store/gas station/liquor outlet in the village. The Pour House restaurant in Juniper is open 5 days a week and offers the best hamburgers in the county at excellent prices. Otherwise, biking, hiking, canoeing, long walks and off-roading opportunities abound.
自我介绍
After completing a 30 year career in the Canadian Armed Forces, I returned to school to learn Power Engineering and was employed at Agrium Fertilizer plant in Redwater, Alberta. Fully retired now, I enjoy fishing, helping friends/neighbors, family, travelling and summers at my isolated camp on the Miramichi River. I was stationed throughout Canada during my Air Force career and have stayed at AirBNBs on 4 continents during vacations. I enjoy meeting new folks while hosting at my cottage.
