Cottonwood House is one of three adjacent guest houses, in Guadalupe Compound, that you can rent together or individually. Cottonwood is a bright comfortable residence featuring 4 bedrooms/2.5 baths (up to 10 persons), with enchanting New Mexico style & high-tech amenities. Cottonwood shares a hot tub, fire pit, and mini-basketball court with its next-door sister, Guadalupe House and Patio House. We have NO bunk beds and NO stairs on the property. Free parking for guests. Cottonwood House is in Albuquerque’s beautiful Rio Grande Valley South. You will stay in a charming, safe, gated historic multi-acre family compound with traditional NM and territorial and pueblo-style features. Cottonwood House is one of the two main guest houses in this tranquil oasis with the easiest of access to Albuquerque’s many special sights and charms. The house features 4 colorful and comfortable bedrooms and 2.5 baths, a large living room/great room opening into the adjacent full kitchen, with ready access to outdoor spaces, including the hot-tub patio. Please note that the adjacent Guadalupe House, only 50 feet away, can be booked separately for an additional fee. Guadalupe House, with 5 bedrooms/3 baths accommodates 12 additional persons. There is also a 2bedroom/1 bath suites casita available for optional booking at $200 a night, during non holiday periods. There are NO bunk beds and NO stairs to climb. Please contact the host for potential availability and a specific booking invitation to book both houses together or optional suites. IMPORTANT NOTE: THE INSTANT BOOKING FOR THIS LISTING IS ONLY FOR COTTONWOOD HOUSE. This house is fully stocked with 100% cotton bed linens and towels, complete sets of dishes, flatware, glassware, cookware, and many small appliances, ranging from hair dryers to toasters to food processors (and more). Stroll the peaceful grounds, enjoy the garden areas and century-old trees, view the traditional irrigation ditch (“acequia”) that still runs through the compound. Cottonwood House can accommodate 10 persons. Complementary house cleaning is included, every seven days, for longer term stays.

Cottonwood House is in the historic Albuquerque valley near the Rio Grande and its iconic riverbank forest. This is an area of small farms, with many open fields, popular with migrating birds and bird watchers. The County Parks & Rec maintains the 20-acre Pajarito Open Space, with run/walk/recreation track, that is accessible directly across the street from our driveway, and which leads to the historic Hubbell House hacienda and former stagecoach stop.
Shopping within three miles includes Walmart, Albertsons Grocery Store, Family Dollar, and a Walgreens pharmacy. An AMC 12-screen movie theater, Planet Fitness, a public library, and 24-hour Urgent Care clinic are also within the same distance.
Nearby food and drink choices include dozens of local restaurants such as Abuelita’s on the corner, Amadeo’s pizza and subs, and Twisters (a/k/a Los Pollos Hermanos of TV’s Breaking Bad) within a couple of miles. Or you can select from nearby national chains, including Starbucks, McDonalds, Wendy’s, Chili’s, Dominos, Pizza Hut, Whataburger, Taco Bell/KFC, Baskin-Robbins, Panda Hut, and Long John Silver. GrubHub, DoorDash, or UberEats delivery is an option.

Our South Valley Neighborhood is semi-rural with ample free parking. City public bus lines are about two miles away. The nearest Rail Runner train stop is about 6 miles away. The full Albuquerque freeway system is easily accessible from our property. The Albuquerque airport and the Mesa Del Sol/Netflix film and video production facilities are each within about 6 miles. Please note that, due to the rural nature of the area, your GPS may not be 100% accurate. If you need directions, we will gladly provide them.

My name is Ernie. I’m a descendent of some of the earliest founding families of New Mexico. My extended family has been living in the Albuquerque area since 1706. My wife and I have a home in the the Guadalupe Compound, so we are readily available to answer your questions and recommend local activities and restaurants.
