The Hill House is a unique lakeside gem: a forested three acre hilltop retreat perched above clean, lovely Turtle Lake. It is 10 minutes from restaurants, 30 minutes from Detroit Lakes, 45 minutes from Fargo, and 3.5 hours from the Twin Cities. This spacious lake house sleeps 10 in seven beds (1 king, 2 queen, 2 twin, 2 upper bunk) in four bedrooms named for Scandinavian countries. An 11th person can spend the night using the roll-away bed or couches (all new). (Groups of more than 15 during the day require advance permission). -Bedroom 1: King Bed -Bedroom 2: Twin Bed -Bedroom 3: Twin over Queen bunk bed and Twin over Twin bunk bed (total of 4 mattresses) -Bedroom 4: Queen Bed The house was updated in 2022-23. It has two full baths (one with a bathtub/shower, one with just a shower), large kitchen, W/D, dishwasher, wifi, and two new smart TVs. Relax on two second-floor decks: one to the east for sunrise through the forest, one to the west for gorgeous nightly sunsets over the lake. Turtle Lake is ideal for swimming, fishing, and boating. A public access is nearby. Bring your boat and kayaks! Roast marshmallows and stare up at the cathedral-like oak canopy above the fire pit. Along with the grill, the fire pit overlooks the lake and its spectacular evening hues. In autumn and winter, curl up by two indoor fireplaces. Very cozy in the winter, this lake retreat offers great cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice fishing. Detroit Mountain is a 30 minute drive, offering downhill skiing and tubing. The Hill House is quiet and secluded. It has a 500 foot private wild shoreline, with forest on two other sides. Nestled in the woods at the end of quiet road, there is zero traffic. The lawn is massive. A magical winding path leads down the rustic hillside to the new dock. Pause at the towering Cottonwood tree to watch Bald Eagles roost and fish. Walk the hilltop Edge Walk at dusk, and then stargaze in the open embrace of your own private meadow.

Great place for fun
This is a full-sized lake home with all the furnishings you'd expect. Everything is new or in excellent shape. 3+ acres of wooded grassland and a private dock (bring your own boat). Kitchen is exemplary.
Noah's place was very clean, bed's were comfortable with nice white linens. House had everything we needed for our one night to attend wefest. Enjoyed some time on the dock during day and appreciated the beach towels!
Eventful and relaxing accommodations can be found at this comfy lakeside sanctuary. The size of the rooms is larger in person; and the layout and levels of the house allow for multiple groups to both have personal space and also socialize in common areas. The full-size kitchen allows for multiple meals to be made, and there is a gas grill for outside meal prep. Inside there are two separate living rooms for those who have different program viewing preferences. The land around the house is spacious for nature walks with defined paths. Multiple treats of s’mores were made at the fire pit. One detail to note is that the lake neighbors are quiet, but friendly, and use the “Rock” on the lake shore of Hill House as a navigation point for the hole lake. The lake is spring-fed and clear. The dock allows for small craft like paddle boards to be launched easily. The presence of loon calls was a nice surprise. The distance from any town ensures that the nighttime sky is full of stars.

Turtle Lake is a quiet lake that is an easy drive from Fargo (45 min), Detroit Lakes (30 min), and 10 minutes from restaurants and convenience stores.
You'll need to drive here, but there is plenty of room for parking for several vehicles. The boat access for the lake is on the north side of the lake. Follow the signs at the turn off for the cabin.
