Balat and Fener are the most colourful neighbourhood in Turkey and it is among the most colourful neighbourhood in the world. A colourful city is so much more than a few flicks of paint. Balat and Fener as Istanbul`s old Jewish and Greek quarter, Balat is kaleidoscope of colours. Tucked away one the shores of the Golden Horn, the Jews settled here after their expulsion from Spain in the 15th century. Over centuries, the area attracted a wide variety of residents, and is today one of the most atmospheric neighbourhoods.
With a wonderfully rich history comes colours a plenty and in recent years, the century old Ottoman houses of red, blues, and greens have brought back their former shining glory. In the wake of the facelft, Balat has become one of the coolest place for a stroll, place to stay, with several chic cafes, boutiques and art galleries popping up on its winding streets corners.

We are on the edge of the more busy tourism zone and have easy access by Foot, Bus, Ferry, or Taxi.
Go down the hill and make a right along the water front to the heart of the more touristic areas. It's about a half hour walk to Eminonu where you can catch ferries all over the city and the tramway up into Sultan Ahmet; There you will find Aya Sofia, The Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace (home of the Sultans) and the Grand Bazaar. Or take the tram in the opposite direction to Taxsim, Beyoglu and Kabatas along the Bosphoros. Kabatas is the place to get ferries to The Princes Islands
