Bressay · 整套乡村小屋 · 3室4床1.0卫 · 可住6人 · Peaceful cottage, panoramic view, 8 acres of land
North Wart cottage was built in the early 1900s and has been lovingly renovated to offer a spacious, serene and modern self-catering accommodation. Set in its own 8 acres of land with 2 woodlands and private driveway, North Wart is located on the island of Bressay, a 7-minute frequent ferry crossing from the centre of Lerwick (Shetland's main town), offering a quiet rural setting with quick and easy access to town amenities and an ideal base from where to explore all that Shetland can offer. The cottage is set on high ground surrounded by its own private land and with uninterrupted panoramic views across to Lerwick, and on a clear day, the view extends as far south as Sumburgh Head. The house is full of character and offers a quaint, warm, comfortable and peaceful stay. The porch leads into an open plan sunroom, dining room (with fireplace) and fully equipped kitchen (with Bosch fridge/freezer, Bosch electric oven, induction hob, microwave oven, coffee machine, toaster and kettle). The sunroom enjoys open views of the countryside and of Bressay Sound across to Lerwick, and is the perfect spot from where you can observe wildlife and watch the Northlink ferry and other boats head in and out of Lerwick Harbour. The dining room leads into the living room which has two, three-seater electric recliner sofas, TV with freeview channels and a selection of books where you can relax after a day spent exploring the isles. The bedrooms are located at the rear of the house with windows overlooking the private rear garden. There is one shower room that has been renovated and upgraded in October 2023 and has electric shower over a spacious shower enclosure.
Beautiful, peaceful location. Sitting watching the world from the large windows was very relaxing and just the break we needed. The cottage is very quirky, ceilings very low but a really lovely, charming place to stay. Directions and communication from the host was spot on. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
We spent a completely magical Christmas and New Year at North Wart and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. The cottage itself is utterly adorable, full of charming little quirks (the ‘mind your head’ signs aren’t just for decoration!), and so warm and cosy even in December/January. The views are nothing short of spectacular, and while you’d struggle to find a bad view in Shetland, this little cottage certainly has some of the best. Gaby was an excellent host, always available and always very happy to help. We had to unexpectedly extend our stay, not once but twice and Gaby couldn’t have been more considerate and helpful. We wanted a quiet, secluded holiday, and Bressay delivers that in spades. But if you want to venture out the locals are some of the warmest, kindest people you will ever meet. The inter-island ferries are very regular, even in the winter, and there is plenty to explore. We particularly loved the Eshaness Cliffs and St Ninians Isle.
Quirky cottage with low ceilings in places. With the fairy lights on, the hall resembled a portal to another place and time. Great views and very friendly Shetland ponies.
