Porto Cristo · 整套公寓 · 2室0床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · Magnificent 2 br Ocean View Gem!
This apartment overlooks the beautiful Mediterranean Ocean, the harbor of Porto Cristo and has everything in place for a romantic holiday, still close to everything, making it super easy to plan a fantastic visit.
Annie was incredibly helpful, we did not get to the appartment until after midnight, but she was messaging me all the time to ensure we got in ok. The place was comfortable with good views and was well provided for. There were 2 of us staying, I would say it might be a little snug for 4 people, but it would be manageable. Good value for money, thanks Annie!
Man hatte einen super Ausblick auf den Hafen von Porto Cristo. Es sind ausreichend Parkplätze in der Umgebung verfügbar und man befindet sich direkt im Zentrum. Die Unterkunft war sauber und aufgeräumt.
Pros: living room, lots of natural sunlight, big tv, netflix, kitchen amenities, warm water. Very close to the sea, nice views, restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance. Cons: beds and sofas not comfortable for my taste. Washing machine did not work so we couldn’t use it and then she tried to charge me almost 800 euros to fix it when it never worked when we were there
Porto Cristo is part of the municipal district of Manacor, and is situated on the east coast of Majorca approximately 65km or 40 miles to the east of Palma and the Son Sant Joan International airport. Driving to Porto Cristo from Palma is fairly straightforward, once you've adjusted to driving on the right, follow the main Ma-15 that takes you all the way to Manacor, and from there it's quite well signposted for the final few miles over to the east coast along the Ma-4020, the journey is approx. an hour.
There are two popular theories on how the town of Porto Cristo got its name, which literally translates as "The Port of Christ." The first comes from a legend that in 1260AD, around the time of the earliest Christian conquest of the Island, a fishing boat carrying a crucifix was washed ashore here.
The other is, two oxen who were carrying an icon of Christ to Palma, stopped here and refused to move any further. So the icon stayed, and the town was renamed in its honour.
Porto Cristo is still a very typical Spanish fishing village, whilst nearby Manacor has a long tradition with the manufacture of quality furniture and is also the centre of the island's pearl industry.
The focus of Porto Cristo is it's natural harbour, which along with nearby Porto Colom is one of the largest along the east coast. Over the years it has provided a safe mooring for both fishing boats and in more recent years an ever increasing number of leisure craft.
During the evening Porto Cristo is perfect if you want to relax oceanside, visit one of the many restaurants along the harbor and beach, or attend some local festivals doing festival season. Within easy reach of Cala Millor which is only a short taxi ride away, there are lots of tourist bars and cover bands for a more lively vibe.
Porto Cristo is also famous for Caves of Drach, walking distance from the apartment, and definitely worth a visit. They were first mentioned in a letter dated 1338 called Black Cave, White Cave, Cave of Luis Salvador, and Cave of the French, and are all connected to each other. The caves have formed by water being forced through the entrance from the Mediterranean Sea, and researchers think the formation may date back to the Miocene Epoch. There is an underground lake situated in the caves called Martel Lake, which is about 115 m in length and 30 m in width, its depth varies between four and twelve meters. The caves are open to the public for a fee, and are one of the main tourist attractions on Mallorca. The visit typically ends with a classical music concert, performed by a small orchestra of musicians on a fleet of small row boats and is a lovely sight and escape from the heat on very hot days.
Porto Cristo has a good selection of cafes, bars and restaurants, along with a number of SPAR type supermarkets that should cater for the everyday holiday essentials as most stock a wide selection of goods, a less expensive option and better equipped is the Hyper Centro Super Market - about 5 minutes walk west of the apartment on the main road going out of Porto Cristo.
For late night shopping and all fresh veggies and home made breads, there is a local shop called Caliment, Just around the corner of the apartment with very reasonable prices and good quality products.
Just about everything in Porto Cristo is within easy walking distance. To go to another town, there is a central taxi stand about 1 minute walk from the apartment towards the beach, here you can hail a taxi to where you'd like to go. If you decide late you want to rent a car, you could take a taxi or bus to Cala Millor to Vanrell Car Hire on Avenida Bon Temps, they are a great little company and allows drop offs at the airport, so you don't have to return the car to Cala Millor. Bike rentals are available in Cala Millor, you could take a taxi or bus (cheaper) to Cala Millor to pick up bikes
