I was born and raised in Ontario. Raised my kids...Now that the kids have all moved out I felt it was a perfect time for me to focus on my dreams. And from that dream the church was turned into my home. I went to Newfoundland, on vacation, for the first time in 2017. I checked the classifieds, as I often do, to see what the housing market was like and saw the church for sale. I knew as soon as I landed I had to see the church. It was love at first sight. Soon after purchasing the church I began to renovate it. As you can imagine it was a very long and tedious process. It was truly a labour of love. I'm very proud of turning this historic church into my home. The Avalon Church Cottage was completed in 2022. My home will begin as an Airbnb the summer of 2023 The Avalon Church Cottage is a perfect venue for weddings, anniversaries, bridal and baby showers, workshops, retreats or large family gatherings. There are 3 renting scenarios. 1. The house can be rented out in its entirety which includes 8 bedrooms. The main part of the church contains six bedrooms and there is small hallway which leads to a back apartment which contains two bedrooms and a full kitchen, washroom, laundry and living room dining room area. When renting the whole house it would include the main part of the church and also the back apartment. 2. An individual can just rent a single room. 3. In addition, it is also possible to just rent the back apartment. When I first began renovating the church had no heat, insulation, plumbing, or electrical Talk about commitment lol Anyway, I worked as my own contractor and hired and supervised the trades as my dream was being built. I hope that you enjoy your stay at the cottage as much as I do. Don't forget to get out at night and look up at the stars in the nights sky. The reduced light pollution allows for great viewing....they are truly spectacular. And during the day please be sure to visit the local bays and beaches- after all they are why most people visit the area. My sincerest wish, for you, is that you come and find what you were looking for- whether it be the solitude, the hiking, the beaches, the peacefulness, or just time to reconnect with friends and family.
